was it really 1000 first 2?
Report sparrow September 28, 2019 2:22 PM BST
If so it must be the first time ever.
Report Charlton2005 September 28, 2019 2:24 PM BST
yeah I have a feeling he is making two mistakes. the racecourse and the market. was def 1000 in the win market.
Report sparrow September 28, 2019 2:29 PM BST
I have no record of the 2 place market price but the normal place market of 3 places returned 36.24.
Report minardi September 28, 2019 4:21 PM BST
Sorry it was Ripon - but in the first two it was defo 1000 as of course was the win SP.
Report Brian September 28, 2019 5:50 PM BST
Doesn't surprise me. The horse was tailed off in a seller on only previous run so you would have had to be an eternal optimist to think it could finish in the first two.

However there is very liquidity in that market so if you had thrown £2 at it at SP, it would probably returned nearer 100-1 than 999/1.

Last race - DOWN ROYAL - TODAY

LADY HEATH

1000            £128     Betfair SP  £17

-----

This represents  ...

The £128 MATCHED (Thus £64 STAKED) @ 1000 - is NOT the Betfair SP.

That £128 would All - well mostly, - be in the PRE-RACE Market ... with, possibly/probably some of it Matched @ 1000 through 'In-Running' ... dependant, of course, on how the race was panning out.

The Betfair SP ELEMENT - IS the - £17 Shown in the Far RIGHT Columns of the Bets LADDER.

Unlike the Left-Hand Columns - the 2 Right-Hand Columns show - Firstly - 'Backer's STAKE - and then a large lump (that I have not reproduced here) showing the Layer's LIABILITY.

THEREFORE -

There was £17 STAKED @ 1000  at Betfair SP ...

ASWELL As - £64 Staked (£128 shown Matched) - In the combined PRE-Race and In-Running Markets.

Echo - to be fair to the trainer who paid 3k for a well bred Hannon cast off that originally cost 260k.  He did say it was working well but that he had nothing to compare it with so he wasnt sure. This comment has some credibitlity since he hadn't had a winner for two years ish.

Not necessarily. If any is cross-matched, it shows up in two different columns. Though in this case, I'm not sure how a bet at 1000 pre-off would be cross-matched from anywhere else.

Report echo123 January 29, 2020 7:54 PM GMT
"Good too see a trainer can still keep a good thing quiet !! "

No sarcasm intended there. If it had been backed into , say, 20s or10s, we'd read what a librarian it was. I imagine it reassures, the trainer to know that all involved at his end can be trusted despite the temptation of such valuable information.
