By:
will be interesting to see if Beckie Smith gets a ban....
considering what Luke Morris did was 10 times worse and he got away with a caution (somehow).... |
By:
taken them an hour so far to update the stewards report...
must be some nice dinner and drinks on the go in Essex tonight... either that or someone has been on the phone telling them they best get their story straight coz there will be an appeal coming their way... |

An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following interference in the final furlong when the
winner, WILD FLOWER (IRE), ridden by Miss Becky Smith, interfered with ISLAY MIST, placed second, ridden by Miss Suzannah Stevens. Being a 7lb amateur rider, Miss Stevenson was accompanied in the enquiry by her employer. The Stewards considered that the interference had improved WILD FLOWER (IRE)’s placing as ISLAY MIST had been intimidated off its intended line over a sustained period and, on the run to the line, the filly had rallied to be beaten by diminishing neck. The placings were revised as follows: First, ISLAY MIST, second, WILD FLOWER (IRE). Miss Smith was suspended for 3 days for allowing her mount to drift right-handed for a number of strides and without correction, on dates to be notified to her. |

By:
just being eyeballed is enough to get chucked now - pathetic
By:
becky smith gets 3 days...
luke morris gets none... dear god. |
By:
see in there the 7lb claimer bit is bollx, two experienced riders do the same thing it usually stands yet they should know better, 2 kids do it the stewards hit her with a ban, jobsworths

sry hibby posting same time, same thing

Stewards: Sam Angell (Chief Steward), Simon Marriage (Stewards' Panel Chair), Sally Lyons (Steward), Kate Smith (Assistant Steward), Jennifer Dewhurst (Raceday Assistant)
By:
im sure one or two of those were recently involved in another feck up of a dq which ended in a reversal at appeal
By:
Since when does 'intimidation' warrant a disqualification? I don't believe the word exists in the rules.
By:
be beaten by diminishing neck.
they should all be sacked for that comment alone. |
By:
rallied to be beat a diminishing neck......what are they watching, was always holding the other, in fact kept straight would have won further
By:
really is a ridiculous explanation & opens a massive can of worms
anytime a horse doesn't run straight when upsides, they can now just say it was "intimidated" & amend |
By:
i'm sure the Info@britishhorseracing.com inbox will be full in the morning...
By:
the word intimidation does appear in the rules in the context of what's happened, but the interpretation and common sense angle of applying the law and the lack of consistency are a huge missing

what they've done is taken the view that because it came off a line and she didn't act to correct that they have to chuck it, but the "has it improved it's placing" seems to have gone a bit skewy

By:
you are probably correct there dave...
we're just the mugs who play a major part in keeping the sport going don't forget... |
By:
they don't even acknowledge that far less forget it. Same as the UKGC, no interest at all in the people who pay for it all.
By:
public relations and customer service in general is dispicable from most organisations and companies if you ask me dave...
been saying it for years... |
By:
Just seen my recording of all this. One of the worst decisions I have seen in Britain in 40 years watching racing. Must appeal. Willie correct fpp holding the runner up comfy.
By:
and the irony is that the present rules were brought it because it was thought that stricter rules were annoying punters. In just one week we have had an clear winner disqualified and a horse that should have been awarded the race left in second.
By:
didnt have a bet but can not believe that was amended I never bet on stewards and after that I will never bet on one
By:
"the filly had rallied to be beaten by diminishing neck" BIZARRE.... Looked like the winner was pulling away to win by a neck to me?
By:
Someone should name a horse Diminishing Neck and run it plenty at Chelmsford.
By:
yet to see anyone who thought the winner was in danger...
apart from the 4 incompetent people who were employed to oversee these things. |
By:
If that was at Sandown, I'm not sure they would have even held an enquiry!
By:
All RUK pundit said was jock had given fpp a great ride.....then she gets a ban.
By:
That one was worse between the two godolphin horses than the one that got flung other night and they aint even called one
By:
^^^^^^^^^Agreed
