Been told today that although you can’t race a horse in this country you can indeed train one on it that’s definatly a new one on me told my friend I think he is wrong but he insists it’s true
The British Horseracing Authority wishes to remind Trainers of the need to allow adequate time to elapse between the termination of a legitimate course of veterinary treatment and a horse's next race. This is true for all veterinary drugs, but is more likely to be a problem with those that are in regular use, for example non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (phenylbutazone, flunixin etc). It is unwise to allow less than 8 days to elapse after any treatment and this may be inadequate for some drugs. Trainers should always consult their Veterinary Surgeons for advice and may, when appropriate, choose to have a horse tested electively before it runs.
