Any experts out there, would a 20mph headwind or tailwind have an effect on the result or would it need to be in 35-40 territory.
2 Weeks ago Brighton had 2 meetings, first meeting had a 30+ headwind which made for easy money I/R but then the next was only 20mph, and plenty of front runner went in, much to my disappointment :(

I looked at the effect of race times vs wind speed some years ago for straight tracks. From memory an effect became significant at around 12mph (headwind). The dataset was very noisy though, for example the wind speed and direction data were "triangulated" from the nearest met office weather stations.
I thought you were entering a marathon, after a few hot curries, and didn’t want to be caught cheating.

I had seen some sort of bias at around 20 and below mwtt but sometimes they were negated by other bias factors IE golden highway up the rail.
Carlisle should be a good example today, headwind x crosswind over 20mph so I would assume front runners will be at a disadvantage, although Carlisle can often favour prominent railracers so will be interesting to see if the wind is negated.
