Hi, yes I am well. I'm my mother's registered at-home carer, so some days don't get time to view the forum. I see you are still picking winners regularly, so your strategy still appears viable. As with many aspects of life, a long-term view must be taken.

Results update:
I always seem to find that the shorter priced selections fail me more often than the higher priced ones. Missed out on a good double today. Therefore £16 loss on the day Original Bank £1,200.00 -£85 = £1115.00 C/Fwd ROI = N/A I only had one good win in September which at that time put me into cumulative profit. I feel that I have been a little unlucky since that time not to have gone into profit once more. I feel confident that the tide will turn for me in October so I will continue with doubles and trebles. However, because there has been some controversy about whether single bets are more profitable over multiple bets I will be including some single bets alongside my doubles and trebles. I wanted to increase my balance to accommodate the extra stakes to cover the win bets but this seems to be controversial too. This being so I will keep the brought forward balance the same at £1,115.00 I do need to monitor how well my singles win bets are performing on their own as opposed to my multiples. Therefore I intend to split the brought forward balance between the two. Since the original bank was £1,200 I am going to allocate £400 towards the singles bets and leave the balance of £715 as the opening balance on my multiples account. The effect of this is to leave scope for 3 £4 doubles and two £2 trebles = £16 for the multiples and Scope for up to £8 in single win bets. The risk is 2% in each case. Obviously, the current deficit on the multiples account means that I am risking up to 2.24% of my betting bank until such time that the balance goes positive once more. I am comfortable with that. Hence the figure will be shown as follows: Multiples: opening balance £800 less £85 = £715 brought forward Singles: opening balance £400 less 0 = £400 brought forward PLEASE NOTE I HAVE NOT CHANGED MY TOTAL BALANCE BROUGHT FORWARD FROM SEPTEMBER I am looking forward to this new challenge and although the multiples are starting off at a proportional disadvantage I feel confident that they will overtake the singles balance proportionately in the future. The ROI can be accurately gauged by a direct comparison between the two but one would have to double the profitability figure on the singles to compare like with like on a pure profit basis. |

mix and match the prices more often, over reliance on shorter priced selections is not profitable long term, its the way the front of the market form works,
so many variables, thats why its virtually impossible, just picking out the best perceived form usually (favs). some days you might get lucky, in the long run just wont be profitable. jockeys or trainers strategy can help when it comes to finding the bigger priced winners, know its lot more difficult for your average form reader, all the professionals have their own ways of finding winners, usually ignoring front of the market horses more often then not. goodluck |
|
By:
Many thanks for your interesting outlook Roadrunner. I will be looking towards selctions of at least 4/1 for my singles bets and one at over 9/1. Hence, it will be interestimg to see how my multiple selections compare with the longer priced singles selections. whenever I see professional services advertised they don't seem to make more than 30 points per month so there is hope for me yet

By:
singles will always be more profitable than multiple bets, why do you think bookies advertise multiple bets because they are easy winners for them, 3/5 of your multis down already with 2 horses losing, selective bets in singles is the only way you will win long term thats a proven fact im affraid
|
|
By:
do think the equaliser will be better off just doing doubles and concentrating on the best two selections staking wise, dont agree with singles being the only
way to win long term, one should approach betting with a view of landing a big multiple, even if its just a small percentage of what you bet overall imo |
|
By:
@roadrunner46 Your comments are very very helpful. I believe that the multiples are the best strategy but I like to combine a few as the selections seem so often not to run expected form. What I am hoping to achieve by backing a up to six selections is to be lucky enough for some of these creatures to run up to expectations. I don't really like singles bets but there are many people out there who believe that this is the way to make money in horse racing. I have no strategy for backing short priced favourites since I believe that the Bookies have the market sewn up. Therefore, I am just trialing the singles bets with selections at longer odds than my multiples in an attempt to crack having a stratgey to be profitable on singles stakes betting. I am enjoying this as it is making me consider higher priced selections than I have previously checked out before. Hope this helps
