3. SCB
Report Deltâ May 10, 2019 11:57 AM BST
I thought Duke would have gone better lto [race to/run suit] after its Epsom run ..
Report Trusty May 10, 2019 12:40 PM BST
I think he needs the softer ground now he's older, but trainer form is huge worry - last half dozen runners have finished nearer last than first!

Just thought stablemate would probably set a fast pace pressed by SCB and that Duke could nick it on the line, with MOM running on for 2nd. 8/1 was ok wouldn't play any lower tbf.

You won't care if you backed it but surely has come across too soon nearly causing a bad incident inside?
Report georgebakerfanclub May 10, 2019 4:24 PM BST
Should be a stewards, She crossed over far too early could have been a nasty accident. Don't think most experienced riders would have done that, very dangerous.
Report differentdrum May 10, 2019 4:31 PM BST
Made it look like De Sousa should be claiming 3lb.

Race 5 - 4:10pm
THE WHITE OAK UK CONDITIONS STAKES (CLASS 3)

Permission was given for A MOMENTOFMADNESS to go early and be led to post.

An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after leaving the stalls when the winner, SHE CAN BOOGIE (IRE), ridden by Jane Elliott, interfered with ANGEL FORCE (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Phil Dennis which interfered with A MOMENTOFMADNESS, placed third, ridden by Silvestre De Sousa which in turn interfered with BRANDY STATION (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Elisha Whittington. Elliott was suspended for 6 days for careless riding in that she had edged left from stall 6 interfering with ANGEL FORCE (IRE), A MOMENTOFMADNESS and BRANDY STATION on her inside, causing De Sousa to take a severe check.

Race 1 - 1:50pm
THE LIVERPOOL GIN EARL GROSVENOR HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 2)

An enquiry was held to consider interference in the final ½ furlong when the winner, SHA LA LA LA LEE, ridden by Jane Elliott interfered with GABRIAL THE SAINT (IRE), placed second, ridden by Paul Hanagan. Elliott was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as she had allowed her horse to drift right for a considerable distance without correction carrying GABRIAL THE SAINT (IRE) off its intended line and causing Hanagan to check approaching the line.
Report Deltâ May 10, 2019 5:11 PM BST
Race 6 - 4:40pm
THE ENGLISH FINE COTTONS APPRENTICE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4)

Following the race, Jane Elliot reported that THIS GIRL, unplaced, ran too freely.

Pity the brains trust on Sky never copped what the rest of us saw. Lynch even said the winner got a better break than the fav which was his normal bolix. As for the winner, another example of a horse winning by the jockey breaking the rules yet allowed to keep the race.

Report georgebakerfanclub May 10, 2019 5:47 PM BST
Six days was very lenient, I think a more experienced jockey would have got a lot longer, could have led to a serious accident
Report Trusty May 10, 2019 7:16 PM BST
Well done Delta; Duke traded to 1.21 I/R but went to Ascot and didn't leave anything up!

Duke the moral winner as SCB should have been placed behind MOM at a minimum or disqualified and placed last. No doubt the stewards were on!Grin
Report blackbarn May 10, 2019 7:36 PM BST
The Stewards could not disqualify unless they determined that the jockey's action was "Dangerous".  They decided otherwise, so the following principles would have applied to their deliberations.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

a) Dangerous Riding - the placing(s) must be altered as the interferer must be disqualified.

b) Careless, Improper or Accidental - if the Panel is satisfied that the interference improved the placing of the horse causing it, the placings must be altered.

c) Where more than one horse is interfered with either in turn as a result of the same occurrence or simultaneously, each is a separate incident by the horse causing the
original interference for which separate placing assessments are to be made.

d) The benefit of doubt should go to the horse which finished in front.

e) The Panel should have in mind that interference is likely to have impeded the sufferer to some degree and therefore a reversal of placings is more likely to follow where there is only a nose between the horses.

f) The further away from the winning post that the incident occurs, the less likely it is that
the result should be changed.

g) The Panel must make allowance for the momentum and ground lost by the sufferer by imagining that it had an uninterrupted run to the line.

h) The Panel must NOT make an allowance for any effect on the horse causing the interference.

i) The Panel must take into account the ease with which the interferer beat the sufferer.

j) If a horse is carried off its intended line, the effect will vary depending on the distance
from the winning post.

Under the rules and the guidance the Stewards decision was a no brainer.  I have some sympathy for your view mindLaugh

well i missed all these winners..well done

you told me brian the snail who ran like one Cry
Report MJK May 10, 2019 7:59 PM BST
So in reality it wasn't deemed dangerous (even though it was) as nobody ended up on the floor
Report blackbarn May 10, 2019 8:10 PM BST
Exactly MJK - The stewards deemed it careless rather than dangerous. One would hope that "nobody ended up on the floor" was not part of their deliberations.
Report Deltâ May 10, 2019 8:17 PM BST
have any been deemed dangerous in the last x years ... guess is no ..
Report blackbarn May 10, 2019 8:27 PM BST
Here is the definition......FOR DANGEROUS RIDING THE RIDER MUST CAUSE SERIOUS INTERFERENCE.

SERIOUS INTERFERENCE IS WHEN INTERFERENCE CAUSES A HORSE AND/OR RIDER TO FALL OR VERY NEARLY FALL OR THE HORSE IS SEVERELY HAMPERED E.G. UP AGAINST THE RUNNING RAIL, OR IS PUSHED OR NEARLY PUSHED OFF THE COURSE.

WAS IT DANGEROUS RIDING?
A rider is guilty of Dangerous Riding if he causes serious interference by:
a) purposely interfering with another horse or rider
or
b) riding in a way that is far below that of a competent and careful rider and where it would be obvious to such a competent and careful rider that riding in that way was likely to endanger the safety of a horse or rider.

Owners apparently were disappointed with her last ride on the horse. They had a decent gambl elast time and it had gone up 1lb !
