SSR needs to be Re-Branded
The Adverts Channel. |

10 seconds away from the off @ newton & aint seen a horse yet
By:
The whole change has been bad for Racing viewers with these awful camera angles and endless split screens caused by far too much racing on the other channel.

Cheers wonders
I managed to miss this switch somehow. ![]() |

6 mins off the next (listed race no less) and it is off from Sha Tin to show some adverts that they show every single day several times. Great viewing.
By:
It really is quite pathetic. Catering for the MUG punter who's not interested in anything but getting a bet on last minute on anything anywhere.
By:
Wow! They have squeezed another advert in a minute from the off after briefly showing the horses down at the start. This is a new low. They don't even have the excuse of having to cover a large number of meetings. Hideous scenes.
By:
At least they've informed us that Chester is a front runners track.

they'll be showing virtual racing next

They are shooting themselves in the foot. It was the same with Ascot.
Do they want to attract courses away from Racing TV? If they do this is surely not the way to do it. Rather than showcasing the meetings they persist in showing Sha Tin. You couldn't make it up. |
By:
Found a forum subject, we can all agree. Absolutely dreadful. Do SKY RACING attempt to attract the most annoying adverts or is this the way to tell us what they think of their customers.
By:
They've managed to attract the most annoying presenters, so this is just more of the same philosophy.
By:
The Redknapp and Dettori adverts on Racing TV are no better.
By:
might be wrong but i would imagine money is the major factor for courses moving to sky.
By:
just a chance their business model doesnt tie in with what viewers would like ideally (ie they need the money from ads and Hong Kong whether you like it or not)...just cos it's a new course for them aint going to change that...you have to remember, being able to see all racing live isn't a basic human right!
By:
They need the money generated by ads.
Simple. Sack the presenters and do away with the ads. |
By:
every sky channel has adverts do they not?
By:
Aye, but at least you get a 45 minute break from them when you watch the football.
By:
Fook knows what Royal Ascot is going to be like, St. James Palace Stakes sharing a split screen with the Go Compare man

I take it that all you moaners will have switched off OR tomorrow you can buy a ticket and go to the track

what do you like about the coverage peeler?

well said peeler
By:
Yes more adverts and more Sha Tin/Happy Valley racing tar.

I like Tylicki as pundit, interviews and I quite enjoy differing camera angles. I think we have to put up with other meetings or contracts will not be renewed. Can't change every thing just because a major meeting is on.
By:
The worst thing about chester and ascot going to sky/atr is that you have to watch it on the tiny LV screen if you want to watch it live.

By:
Just the way racing is now . Racing UK is even worse most of the time .
Quantity |
By:
we will have to beg to differ then peeler, find tylicki pretty bland and just another former jockey and cannot stand the changing camera angles and close ups.
throw in the foreign muck and adverts and to be honest i would pack the game in if forced to watch this channel every day. all about opinions, perhaps they are trying for a different type of viewer than me. |
By:
I hate close up camera angles. That said, they aren't the only ones guility of it.
By:
the way i look at it sky racing comes with my sports package i don't see why you should pay more again to watch ruk always thought bookmakers should subsidise ruk because it benefits them
By:
Tylicki just part of the conveyor belt of retired jocks. To me they all bang average at best.
If viewers are deserting Sky for ITV who is left watching? I can't see Racing picking up many casual viewers. Even poor adverts need some sort of audience. What is the point of Sky throwing money at something if the output is so poor they are driving people away? The only excuse they have is the fixture list and that obviously doesn't include the likes of Sha Tin. Since the movement of Irish Racing the coverage on both channels is now considerably worse than what it was before the change. A case of be very careful what you wish for. |
