Brave Jaq showed improved form last time going left handed and was quite impressive.
it would be no surprise if it beats these over a trip it seemed to excel at.

You didn't want to take the 8/1 with bet365 then?

Ridiculous price now!
Report skiptoomaloumacari March 27, 2019 8:57 PM GMT
Tbh wouldn't touch with a bargepole at current... Only won a yaks race at Stratford..
Report themightymac March 27, 2019 10:27 PM GMT
Not that I didn`t want to Norfolk if it had been entirely possible. Wink

One can only bet where possible.

And anyway, When Koi posted the price had dropped everywhere. 4/1 was best about anywhere immediately after his post.

I am happy with 4/1. It`s 5/2 now.

Last night when it was 6/4 the two and 7/2 bar I decided to leave the race alone because it was too close to call.

This morning it’s 10/11 Marinero, 3/1 Risk A Fine and 4/1 Brave Jaq (Money never sleeps).

These are the remarks from the RP of Risk a Fines last two races suggesting to me that he will certainly struggle to win this race :-

Wincanton - Led until ridden and headed soon after 3 out, held next, kept on same pace (beaten 9 lengths).
Fakenham - Took keen hold, made all, not always fluent, drew 7 lengths clear and ridden last, doing nothing in front and kept right up to work. (Won by 2 lengths in a 3 horse race, 3rd was beaten 62 lengths)

If Brave Jaq was fancied to win it wouldn’t be 4/1 on here.

So there you have it – I’m still undecided.

Help !! Laugh

the 8/1 was taken about 4:15 pm yesterday when koi posted it was 4 biggest bet 365 were 10/3 from 8/1, im gonna suggest marinero suited by drop back in trip as long as going not to fast, was a poor race brave jaq won last time when the well backed fav was pulled out at the start

ive mixed views on this race , i punted against risk a fine last time big style ,  Yet i know both gareth and the james both top guys think at this distance theirs has a huge chance , i punted it pretty early this morning , and it appears a few have joined in as well ,

Quite by chance I was at the racecourse for both of Brave Jaq's previous runs.  I don't remember much about its run at Leicester apart from Asanty did it quite professionally and I was in danger of getting a sunburned forehead in February.

However I do remember quite a lot about his last run at Stratford.  The fancied Golden Tobouggan was withdrawn just before the race because he quite simply refused to move.  So, by default Cyrius Moriviere was made favourite.  He looked a bit fat in the paddock so I backed Asangy to beat him in a match bet.  On to the race.....

Cyrius Moriviere either got tired very early or has little ability left and was a total non-factor.  I watched Asangy all the way round and was close to tearing up the ticket early on.  He never really travelled or jumped the whole way round - in fact I remember being slightly impressed that a horse having such a bad time of it even got round.  So, I think it's a stretch to assume any improvement on Brave Jaq's behalf last time.  That's not to say he won't win today (the top two aren't that convincing at this trip) but just to warn you not to take last time's 'improved' form too literally.

The irony is I'm half considering attending Warwick today which would probably lead connections to think I'm stalking them.

Good luck to those betting.
Report happysandwich March 28, 2019 12:18 PM GMT
Nice informative write up Davros much appreciated.

Noticed the Fav Marinero has now drifted to 13/8.

I’m taking Portmanparks good advice and leaving the race alone.

Good luck to those with bottle. Grin

Cheers.  I'm going to go Warwick as I can get in free and it's a nice day.  Maybe one of them will have three legs in the paddock - if so I'll report back.

Mariner might not run, ground could be too quick, it's declared in a 4 runner hunter at Wetherby tomorrow

Report jmdc March 28, 2019 12:55 PM GMT
I thought Marinero's problem was staying 3m, not the ground, I think he prefers it.  Risk A Fine also struggled to stay at Fakenham, so I don't discount him.  I couldn't have Brave Jaq on my mind!

Marinero, like Koi said, is entered tomorrow in a 4 runner Hunters race worth £2,470 against 3 old PTP’ers.

Why run it today for £1,872 in a race against a 6/5 Favorite ?

Very strange.

The 4 runner Hunter Chase tomorrow at Wetherby has Always On The Run at 8/13 with all the bookies.

On here it is EVENS do I lump on now or wait until it's too late?
There’s £484 available.

Would rather be on Ravished, think it will be hard to beat if it runs to its point form last time.
Report koikeeper March 28, 2019 7:16 PM GMT
Marinero was only pulled up due to a slipped saddle.. Could run tomorrow
Report SlippyBlue March 28, 2019 7:25 PM GMT
Marinero ran too bad to be true so the slipped saddle explains that. I didn't have a bet in the end in this race but the winner jumped absolutely superbly the whole way round.
Report happysandwich March 28, 2019 9:14 PM GMT
It’s now 1.8 so glad I got on quick at Evens.

Watch Always On the Run’s last race at Ludlow, he was 8 lengths 3rd to Road To Rome with Marinero 17 lengths behind him. Just can’t see that form being reversed, especially after Marinero’s run today.

But what do I know? Laugh

Koikeeper,

You’ve turned me into a bag of nerves after naming Ravished.

It’s just calculated it automatically on my ‘matched bets’ to save me asking the bright sparks on here.

The odds on my bet have been reduced from 2 to 1.7 and my profit is reduced from £250 to £175.

as i indicated in my message i was punting Risk a fine yesterday , and i have to say it seemed never in doubt , so that repaired a couple of poor days , thank goodness , Ravished is def fancied by connections all the more by they think Ravished is more comfortable jumping the other way round , Now the question is should we be punting this short , ; Maybe a small double with the wind operated on skelton on in the 2.20 might py todays wages ,

Report koikeeper March 29, 2019 4:46 PM GMT
GL slippy, there were excuses when ravished was beat on its previous 2 runs.
it is thought it needed thr run on its seasonal debut, and it had had the flu jab before running on its second start... Before bolting up by 40/50 lengths in its last run.
