Well done to hollyday and uptheboro who tie for first place. It was close for all places with cosmik debris and TheNorfolkMafia sharing the spoils for 3rd / 4th.

Well done also to the rest of the top 10.

The leaderboard will be updated shortly.

George what's to be done with the 15 minute rule ??

Either it is applied in similar fashion to the 1 hour rule in the naps competition or it's scrapped.I don't really mind which route we go down however it's pointless having a rule that's ignored.

Up to mackies. posy

personally, I favour the 15 minute rule, cuz if you allow up to the off, you then have people posting after they've jumped for the first, and we're in a similar situation. So a line has to be drawn somewhere.

The other good point about the 15 min rule is that no potential advantage can be gained from seeing the likely off odds eg 10/11 or 11/10, 6/1 or 7/1

Take your point George (and it's quite compelling) about the first race odds.

Suggest everybody is now on a yellow card and it's applied...unless Mackies decrees otherwise.

On the 15 minute rule..

My understanding was it was implemented to allow anyone scoring in-running time to input selections into a spreadsheet.

When I've scored I've not done in running scores nor used a spreadsheet for that matter. As a result I've always allowed some leniency. Pumphol has been playing longer than me and in that time I'm barely aware of any late posts so I'm more than happy to let today pass.

Should anyone be continually posting late then obviously we would have to address that. And obviously anything after the off would never be allowed.

Hope everybody feels this is fair. I don't feel this is the sort of comp where a hard line stance is required.

mackies thanks for posting. Can i put up a compromise suggestion which covers George's point regarding the first race betting shows and the advantage that could perhaps be gleaned from that and also shows some leniency to those posters who perhaps unwittingly misss the 15 minute deadline. The suggestion is that if someone's post is timed within the 15 minute zone then the selection in the first race only is voided and the remaining race selections stand.

What you mean posy is another rule to allow a broken rule to be allowed if it meets the criteria of the new rule Crazy

This makes no sense to me Blush.... someone will be upset either way ...that's what rules are for Devil

Maybe we can have a vote on this Mischief
By:

Virgin I think i'm suggesting an objective rule to replace what would become a subjective interpretation of the existing rule.
By:
mackies-fc
When: 08 Feb 19 13:10
posy, I'm absolutely certain that pumphol has not sought to gain any advantage on this occasion. If I felt anyone was abusing any of the rules then obviously its something to look at.

My feelings are though that all regular players adhere to the rules and a degree of flexibility is fair enough.

Virgin, without wishing to get political, allowing a vote probably wouldn't solve anything Wink

By:

When: 08 Feb 19 14:03
mackies you may have misunderstood me as i've not for one minute suggested that pumphol sought to gain any advantage. He doesn't need to !!

There was a case a couple of weeks ago where qq posted late (again i'm not suggesting anything underhand) and that led to a bit of a debate as to whether or not the 15 minute rule should be strictly enforced and at that point George reminded everyone of its existance. I think you may have been out of the country at the time and missed the conversation.

Since then there have been a further few late received posts and the question was asked as to whether or not the rule should be abandoned and that's where we now are with George having made the valid point that scrapping the rule could lead to an advantage to very late posters.

I reiterate i'm not suggesting anyone has abused the rule;it's just a case of if there is a rule it needs to be adhered to.

I do agree posy that the rule should be adhered to.

However the hard core of 25 players who post almost daily over 6 months may have the occasional day where they are a couple of minutes late and i dont feel they should be exempt from posting on those days.

Ill leave it open to the floor...

As long as we all know exactly what we're voting for . We can't have people claiming afterwards that those who voted in a certain way "Were not aware of all the facts at the time of voting" . We must also ensure that both campaigns strictly adhere to their expenditure restrictions and that all financial support is completely transparent , in order to ensure a level playing field .

Virgin you're a sparky sort of guy so why don't you organise the vote.In my view there are 3 options :

Leave the 15 minute rule as it is ,but strictly enforce it by voiding all selections

Leave the 15 minute rule as it is ,but void the first race only

Delete the 15 minute rule

All entrants showing on George's latest league table eligible to vote

When we have voted do we then offer a substantial pay off to the organising committee in order to get the rules changed and allow 3 years for the negotiations to be completed ? Cool

The committee are going to have a meeting to decide whether this is a worthy use of the committees time....

They will discuss whether there should be a vote...

A sub-committee will meet and discuss whether the committee should hold the meeting in this decade or defer it to a sub-committee ...

Week 11 & that was the first time I have not beaten the deadline, I actually only posted cos three others had posted after the alloted time, I wouldn't have bothered otherwise  knowing I was well late, I have an even simpler solution, if you post 14 min to 1 min before off time, you can still participate but your first race selection will be deemed a loser & if that's a nap it goes on race two.

posy
