Perhaps someone should claim it to stop it retiring.

it didnt make any difference to the result but when you do it and dont win, you are leaving yourself open to a bit of abuse.

he has been a great servant to them though

yep, fair play to Derek Shaw, got the horse off Stoute, won 17 times with it and over £132K in prize money

all that i look at it Tom is did it affect the result and the answer for me is clearly no

the horse won it's last race and is obviously handicapped out of it now so in a claimer but today it didn't want to know either before the race or during. I can't see why Jack should have known it was going to dog it but that's what it did and him looking round did not make this happen.

What was he looking around for? If he just rode the horse out to the best of his and the horses ability and the result would have been whatever. Not like he was looking to kid the handicapper by winning too far when the horse is on it's last run ! Laugh

Why people are calling this horse a dog is beyond me.

thought it was a case of a hard fit horse finding plenty and an a 12yo off a 10 month break finding little, imo

I think your assuming the horse had a lot left and been sucked in by that jockey showboating that horse was tired late on and maybe hurting.

Why would a jockey showboat if there's a possibility the horse maybe tired and hurting?

The 12-year-old Loyalty is likely to have his final start on what will be his 100th start at Lingfield (2.20).

The son of Medicean, who still retains all his character according to trainer Derek Shaw, started his career in the care of Sir Michael Stoute before being bought by Shaw and his wife in November 2010.

Shaw said: "I always said I'd get him to 100 and then retire him. He's been a star for us – winning 17 races and more than £132,000 in prize-money – but he's been getting quite difficult in the stalls.

"I wish I could find ten more like him but he's not the easiest to deal with and full marks to the staff who've looked after him.

"Win, lose or draw it's been the plan to retire him but as long as he comes back safe and sound then that's the main thing."
