Horse fatter than Mart, hence the pre-race drift.

hadn't run for 295 days, can't see why they brought him back for 1 run.

The horse is obviously a mutt but what a tool Shepherd is , looking round as if he was full of horse , when the cupboard is completely bare .

I was only joking, striding

Wouldn't think Derek Shaw would have a good record with any horse returning from a 295 day absence, never mind an ageing 12yo

the horse obviously was still travelling when he looked round and found zilch

Still wonder why jockeys enjoy getting into head to head battles (especially against a better stayer) on the bridle
Horses are trained to race.

Kick on past and he would have surely won easily

When: 01 Feb 19 14:29
If you think you have the leader covered, surely the jockey SHOULD look round to check for other possible dangers??
By:
stridingedge
When: 01 Feb 19 14:29
no cos the horse didn't want to put any effort in past its cruising speed.

if it wnated to put it in it would have gone on and won. the earlier the button was pressed the earlier it curls up

the winner was extending to the line.

exactly, put the race to bed.  then start looking round to see how far you've won by.

It’s not irrelevant, what people are saying is the guy is as thick as a short plank and wouldn’t know whether a horse was going well enough to win or not . Would Frankie Dettori behave like that , not an earthly.

jeez jimeen

horses can go well and then not find and make jocks look like mugs.

but the armchair jocks on here always win on them

interesting discussion though.  note not a mention of it on skysports racing.  they do look after their own ..

chappers said a horse that wanted to win vs a horse that didn't

100% nothing else needed.

When: 01 Feb 19 14:32
if he tried to kick on entering the straight he still wouldn't have gone past, yes it looks bad with all the showboating but the result would have been the same. I can get what people are saying though
By:
stridingedge
When: 01 Feb 19 14:35
if it were closing on the line after not getting going quick enough I wouldn't have been so forthright on this.

it looked like the winner and was asked in plenty of time to go on to the line and curled up when asked anything.

The fact the jock was confident up the straight has no bearing on whether the horse should have won or not.

and had actually won when last seen, so if they wanted to go out on a win... Crazy

As looking around clearly has no effect on the ride I'm surprised all jockeys don't spend the last couple of furlongs looking around all the time to see if anything is coming MischiefGrin

When: 01 Feb 19 14:42
The horse didn't want to go in the stalls and didn't want to go past the winner. It's high time they retired it.
By:
GEORGE.B
When: 01 Feb 19 14:45
Just noticed it was his 100th start, so maybe that's why they ran him once more. And amazingly had worn a visor on 98 of those starts Shocked

but had won 17 times and placed on a further 22, and turned 12 rated 85, so wouldn't want to call him a 'dog'.
By:
hulk23
When: 01 Feb 19 14:45
so he knows he's sitting on a dog that won't go by the leader, and his main concern appears to be where is everything else ?
