Going to Aintree for first time this GN meeting - mate has use of city centre apartment for the week and they are going racing on the Thursday and Friday. Lovely, I thought, till I looked up the price of admission. They’ve got tickets for the Lord Sefton lower stand which are £70 on Thursday and £105!!! on Friday-I looked at the course map and this stand is the one way beyond the jamstick, near the National start- so presumably, non- big screen viewing isn’t up to much esp of the finish.
My question is,can someone recommend, is there a better alternative stand- wise or is paying £30 into Tatts a perfectly good ploy- just want decent view, access to a drink and a bit of room
At present, the plan is to go just the Thursday and spend the Friday enjoying the City and watch the racing in the boozers(any recs for good city centre pubs for this also appreciated)
don't know if this will help mate but been on a few trips there recently found tatts perfectly acceptable youre a bit away from finish but can see the screen perfectly getting a drink easy they usually have people wandering abt with those beer dispensers on quite nice to go down to the last hurdle and watch them remember watching Ruby laughing at Scudamore when Big Bucks was cantering all over the one of Pipes in the big hurdle on Thursday.

Harry you will be fine with a tatts at £30 get you to the paddock plus good view from the mound or by the chair pavilion,Thursday is very comfortable and by a distance the best day to go,regarding the city on the Friday you won’t have any trouble finding good pubs Liverpool is a great city which isn’t easy for someone from Manchester to say.

I recommend Queen Mother Roof on Thursday. Big open bar on ground floor of the stand and smaller cosy bar and great viewing on top level ( almost on winning post). Easy to get to bar and toilet without ever queuing, and cheaper than a Cheltenham club ticket.
Well worth paying the slight extra from tatts
