So sorry for your loss. May no more sorrow enter your life. There is no consolation for a loss of such magnitude other than that she is now at peace with no more suffering. Cancer and dementia are the most horrible conditions and anyone who says that there can be a caring God when such suffering is inflicted on innocent people is misguided at the very least.

I share your sorrow at that dreadful disease.I well understand your loss. We lost our daughter to colon cancer at an age where doctors said people of that age don't get the disease. She was one of two in the 16 to 23 year age group who did that year. Even the other being a nurse was evidently of no help in getting an early diagnosis.

Sincere condolences to jrw for his loss but to use this thread to bring up your anti religion rhetoric is a lot more than 'misguided'.

Slicer. I think that most of who suffer such a great loss doubt that there is any thing to believe in. I look at the millions buried in War Cemeteries and ask Why ?

Sad

My mother once told me that that her mother told her not to go to her grave when she'd passed(wasting money&time on buying/laying flowers etc) as SHE WOULDN'T BE THERE. Shortly before she passed she pressed her hand against her daughter's heart and said this is where I'll be.

Once someone is physically gone, they're as spiritually alive as their "living" loved ones keep them.

Really sorry to hear of ur loss JRW, passing always seems worse at this time of year. The 2 year battle must have been very difficult for you both, just hope your wife didnt suffer too much, but she will live on in your memories and be looking down on you in 2019, take good care of yourself at this time.
