It's really difficult to find any sympathy for Ruby because of his arrogance - a trait he inherited from odious Father Ted. Why any racing body would deem him suitable as an ambassador, given his oft stated contempt for punters, is a complete mystery! Willie will continue to let Ruby choose the stable's good things, but I'm not sure Rich Ricci will be as patient.

In its essence kevin blakes article deduced that betwen 2009 and 2017 ruby was over twice as likely to fall at the final fence/hurdle as other established jump jockeys.
That figure became four times as likely when LEADING at the last. However blake added that without examining the details of over 37000 races he was unable to establish any reason for this phenomenon. And FWIW the only time i ever heard ruby express 'arrogance' or a lack of concern over us punters was when he was goaded into an argument with tv blow-hard john mcCririck on an RTE tv program I think it was. Think RW said the plight of punters was the furthest thing from his mind. Which is the way it should be for a top jock imo. |
