THE BEST NEWS FOR HORSE RACING THIS DECADE.

FRANK SPENCER LINED UP AS REPLACEMENT.
Report TheFear • September 28, 2018 1:25 PM BST
for real?
Report impossible123 • September 28, 2018 1:26 PM BST
Long overdue and not soon enough. Good Riddance!
Report Ramruma • September 28, 2018 1:26 PM BST
Bruce's departure will be a good test of some forumites' belief that it is Bruce who allowed bookies to get away with FOBTs and knock-backs. It might turn out to be more complicated than that.
Report Ramruma • September 28, 2018 1:29 PM BST
btw it all seems a bit sudden as there is no replacement lined up according to the RP story.
Report Aviboyd • September 28, 2018 1:30 PM BST
Captain not going down with his ship.

If Byrne thinks Millington was a great editor and they are keeping him as a consultant then the next person will be just as bad. Byrne should do one as well.

Joey Essex is the early favourite to carry on all of Bruce's good work
Report TheFear • September 28, 2018 1:33 PM BST
Bruce did the work of two men, to be fair. Laurel & Hardy.
Report Whistlejacket • September 28, 2018 1:45 PM BST
Absolutely GOOD RIDDANCE!  One would be hard pressed to find a more talentless d***ckhead in a village full of idiots.
I don't buy the he is "stepping" down bullsh**t.  He more than likely has been SACKED - and deservedly so.  An incompetent fool, who managed to fool a lot of people for a lot of the time.

Millington going................... SIDEWAYS

Alan Byrne - "I am delighted that Racing Post customers and staff will still have the considerable benefit of his knowledge and flair when Bruce takes on a role as editorial consultant later in the year."

Millington - "I will continue to contribute to the Racing Post on a part-time basis, working on special projects as well as writing and broadcasting."

be interesting if anyone says anything nice about him in the racing world, ,,, apart from bookies reps
Report impossible123 • September 28, 2018 1:58 PM BST
Probably into another bookie trough eg laddies/ok koral; another gravy train in the offing, no doubt.

Hopefully Nick Rust at the BHA would be next. He is wholly unsuitable for his present role.
Report TheFear • September 28, 2018 2:22 PM BST
who will replace bruce, could do with a top-notcher like chris cook?
Report tomhunt • September 28, 2018 2:25 PM BST
he's left the online version in an absolute mess, not sure they know how to fix it, the 'upgrade' should never have been sanctioned
Report kansas • September 28, 2018 2:31 PM BST
You only have to read some of the rubbish Chris Cook has written this summer to know he is a long way removed from a top notcher
Report Rider • September 28, 2018 2:37 PM BST
i expect it could be someone like mottershead

imo they really need someone who can see that they dont need so many columnists/tipsters etc
Report impossible123 • September 28, 2018 2:45 PM BST
Ian Hislop,...he knows nothing about horse racing which is not a disadvantage at the Racing Post, and not in a bookie trough.
Report TheFear • September 28, 2018 2:45 PM BST
chris cook is a racing man though in my opinion, bruce was always a sports/footy type. eg More concerned with VAR rules than the whip rules. The pool of potential candidates is shockingly poor.
Report kansas • September 28, 2018 2:54 PM BST
If Chris Cook was a 'proper' racing man he'd not have written some of the howlers he did this summer
Report GEORGE.B • September 28, 2018 2:57 PM BST
any chance of an example or two, Kansas?
Report TheFear • September 28, 2018 2:58 PM BST
Such as?

Motty is a good shout by Rider. Yes man for Byrne and the racing insiders won't mind him cos he won't criticise them too much either.
Report jmdc • September 28, 2018 3:07 PM BST
Let Tom Kerr do it.  He seems to know the answer to everything.
Report kansas • September 28, 2018 3:09 PM BST
His assertion in the Guardian in August that Andre Fabre had had runners before at Catterick Bridge and Carlisle is a personal favourite.

The irony of course being that the info was taken from the Racing Post database.

thanks thefear, hope i'm wrong though
Report saddo • September 28, 2018 3:14 PM BST
I'd put that idiot Chapman in charge, he can't help asking awkward questions.

They have kept putting the price up over the last few years until it is now £2.90 a day and sales have dropped through the floor, Could be a matter of time until it is online only + betting shop paper, although if the forecast number of shop closures with the cut in stakes on FOBT the betting shop paper could go to the wall. Greed killed the golden goose.
Report joevalue147 • September 29, 2018 11:38 AM BST
Racing post will hopefully now reconsider there absolute childish, comic book like front page displays.
Report TheFear • September 29, 2018 11:40 AM BST
Byrne played a blinder with Millington. Imo Byrne made the big decisions and Bruce took all the flak. Genius if you think about it.

Bruce is moving to Hollywood, new job as a stunt double in the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie
Report impossible123 • September 29, 2018 1:41 PM BST
Initiate sackings or no golden handshake, simple. Anyway, a welcome move on every front; onwards and upwards (or downwards/defunct).
Report Ramruma • September 29, 2018 1:50 PM BST
We may be missing the obvious. For at least the past seven years (because it is in the Born to Punt book) golf tipsterer Steve Palmer has said he will spit in the boss's face if he wins £30,000.
