I'm trying to work out any reasons any other horse will want to finish in front of this (or capable of course).

This has run to RPR of 98 LTO, nothing else remotely near that in the field. But they are all getting marks after this race.

The favourite has run two excellent races, and would stay at it's (already assumed) mark after winning this one.

Obv. by 'horse' I mean their trainers...
Report Tiger Tiger • September 20, 2018 1:06 PM BST
Drifting to above evens, despite the penalty he is a back for me, seemed to handle the soft well enough on his debut and there will have to be something smart in the field to finish in front of him imo.
Report stu • September 20, 2018 1:08 PM BST
Agree tiger, and even if there is another smart one they still won't want lumbering with a massive mark for winning this potentially.

The main challengers all have (lower level) form exposed too, so not too many unknowns here.
Report DIFERENT GRAVY 12 • September 20, 2018 1:15 PM BST
I laid @ 1.69 and then geened up far too early Sad if it goes back below 1.8 I will be a layer again. It seems a strange race to go for, must be lots of races much closer to home. I think its rating based on its last run is too high, just my opinion.
Report stu • September 20, 2018 1:16 PM BST
6 grand for what should really be a penalty kick DG
Report stu • September 20, 2018 1:17 PM BST
...and it can win without touching it's mark after this too.
Report stu • September 20, 2018 1:20 PM BST
It's mark is not just it's latest race either, it beat good horses in it's first run too.
Report TheAnorak • September 20, 2018 1:23 PM BST
I was at Salisbury for his last run and wrote this comment:

Dark Jedi came from some way back to take second on the line, but he already looks a tricky customer. He was edgy in the paddock, reluctant to go to post, and then slowly away from the stalls. He clearly has plenty of ability, but is not the sort to appeal to as a betting proposition.

Must say I wasn't expecting to see him dropped this much in class though - maybe this is being used as a confidence booster.
Report stridingedge • September 20, 2018 1:23 PM BST
I've layed it at 1.96

trainer profiles mainly think there are 3 or 4 here that can jump ahead of it under the pen on soft ground

Report GRANTCKING • September 20, 2018 1:23 PM BST

Report notwhatwho • September 20, 2018 1:24 PM BST
I’m into lariat for a place
11/8 fair enough
Report DIFERENT GRAVY 12 • September 20, 2018 1:25 PM BST
I would love to lay it again but having greened up it goes against the grain to lay @ 2.10+
Report stu • September 20, 2018 1:26 PM BST
Drift is horrendous must admit gawd knows why though
Report DIFERENT GRAVY 12 • September 20, 2018 1:27 PM BST
I remember B Curley saying the more I put on the bigger the price got!!!!

Which horse was it???
Report handtorofe • September 20, 2018 1:28 PM BST
A bit like the first race yesterday starting to look good value at 2.3
Report stridingedge • September 20, 2018 1:29 PM BST
I actually had 2.3 - 2.4 as it's price

I like the Dods horse and of course there are other potential improvers

think a mid 80's horse could be enough
Report Cork Langer • September 20, 2018 1:30 PM BST
Salisbury race it profited from a muddling tactical affair, wouldn't want to rely on the form too heavily
Report stridingedge • September 20, 2018 1:30 PM BST
dods horse certainly ran into one last time ( i think a better horse than this fav today)
Report notwhatwho • September 20, 2018 1:31 PM BST
The more I look at this market I fancy a big upset

Report Tallywagger. • September 20, 2018 1:34 PM BST
What an amazingly inept ride.
Report stu • September 20, 2018 1:34 PM BST

Report sageform • September 20, 2018 1:35 PM BST
Backed the first 2 so happy enough. Another top class ride by Probert.
Report TheFear • September 20, 2018 1:35 PM BST
hopeless ride
Report granitjack • September 20, 2018 1:35 PM BST
Not unlucky just given a horrendous ride.
Report Hushwing. • September 20, 2018 1:35 PM BST
he tried to win clever and got done by a finisher on the outside.
very poor ride
Report stu • September 20, 2018 1:36 PM BST
He had to sit still and wait for about 3 furlongs, and still nearly won it.
Report Tallywagger. • September 20, 2018 1:36 PM BST
No bad luck just a shocker in the saddle.
Report stridingedge • September 20, 2018 1:36 PM BST
no chance that beats the winner over a mile if they meet again
Report handtorofe • September 20, 2018 1:37 PM BST
Backed fav at 2.3 but laid 2.7 to get out thought he gave it a very poor ride
Report stu • September 20, 2018 1:37 PM BST
Jockey allowed it 0 momentum in the finish

Hopefully the winner will give it weight if they meet again then Plain
Report Tallywagger. • September 20, 2018 1:39 PM BST
If he comes wide early in the straight as he should he would have been three lengths ahead of where he was at the furlong pole. Not sure how he can explain that effort to connections.
Report stu • September 20, 2018 1:39 PM BST
Was a penalty kick DG, just that David Batty was taking it...
Report De_man • September 20, 2018 1:39 PM BST
Some effort getting that beat but if anyone can eh awful at his job for a long time
Report SontaranStratagem • September 20, 2018 1:39 PM BST
Could tell that was coming 100 yards into the race, once its drifted back its a case of luck playing a part.

He did try and get a position early on but was closed off, then its down to luck with gaps opening etc Cry
Report stu • September 20, 2018 1:41 PM BST
Looking forward to the winner giving Dark Jedi a couple of pounds if they meet in a handicap
Report stridingedge • September 20, 2018 1:42 PM BST
the whole point is the layers had the pen on their side stu Cry
Report cardenden • September 20, 2018 1:43 PM BST
the better horse won,,  jedi was tracking the winner, then jock took it inside,  got to the front and the winner still came and beat it ..  had  every chance but just  wasnt good enough
Report lewisham ranger • September 20, 2018 6:26 PM BST
