There was a ruling a year or so ago forcing riders to take so many days of I think per fortnight. Seems not to be happening now. There surely should be even stricter rules for apprentices.  Jason Watson has ridden every day since September 3rd and is booked every day until September 20th.

They sometimes get days off when they are considered to have tried too hard to win. It doesnt appear to ever work when they try to lose.

Think the rule is they can't ride at more than 9 meetings a week, so yes it is possible for jockeys to ride 7 days a week so long as they're not riding at two meetings a day more than twice a week.

They are self employed so can take a day off whenever they choose but in practice they hate to miss a potential winning ride.

As in industry give people the chance of overtime and they take it. Especially in the case of lower paid workers and riders. As many have admitted the lifestyle has been the cause of their depression.
We even get amateurs riding at two meetings a day

The reason for some poor rides, is that a jockey is too tired , they just go through the motions on some rides

its better for everybody if jockeys are not burnt out

so jockeys riding at more than 1 meeting a day is not something I am in favour of & neither is riding 7 days a week

no need to start bringing in mandatory days off for jockeys, just introduce regionalised fixtures for 1 day a week

Dambuster.
"The reason for some poor rides, is that a jockey is too tired , they just go through the motions on some rides"
Why so many are caught napping. Seriously, Fallon wrote about that prior to his retirement and admission of depression. I Was at Musselburgh one evening when he was flying up after riding at an afternoon meeting at Windsor. He missed his early rides due to delays but got there in time for the gamble in the last.
In summer I usually saw sweaty jockeys piling into a mini bus to get to a Northern evening meeting. Hardly a relaxing trip.
