After a disappointing third in Ireland Defoe is massively overpriced at 2/1 in the 3.55 at Baden Baden today.

3.55 Baden Baden - Defoe - £100 Win @ 2/1 Sky Bet

This is a horse I've long admired but he must have cut in the ground and it is something that was missing when he disappointed somewhat in Ireland last time. That said he was also running over a shorter trip than ideal. Today I feel he is massively overpriced in a German Group 1, where to be honest the two British horses have the best form. Best Solution was a winner at Hopergarten recently and beat the quirky but talented Mirage Dancer at Newmarket the time before, but Defoe has something Best Solution doesn't and that is a high cruising speed and the ability to pick up off it. We saw this at Newbury first time out this season and Defoe is also a horse who appears to run well fresh. These boxes are all ticked today and his work at home has been pleasing of late. I don't think he has quite shown his true potential yet and I think this is an excellent piece of placing by Roger Varian. I am very confident he will win today.

Soooo ohhh it's magic, you knoowwwwww better believe it's Defoe.

I feel he will be a live L'Arc contender after today.

I wouldn't shrug of the chances of German horses Dschingis Secret and Iquitos quite so easily if i were you domino. These 2 horses run against each other regularly beating each other.
Iquitos is preferred by myself today with form figures over this course off 11221, winning a G2 initially before winning this G1 race in 2016 and 2nd to Guignol last year btn 2 lengths with Best Solution 3 1/2 lengths further behind.. Also beat Best Solution at Munich in a G1 over 10fs giving him 9lbs wfa. Iquitos likes to be ridden from behind and looks better over 12fs.
Dschingis Secret was just under 2 lengths behind Best Solution at Hoppegarten but beat Hawkbill in the same race last year, Cosgrave left it late to get up that day and Baden-Baden is a totally different course.
Windstoss seems to have gone off the boil recently but did win the German Derby at Hamburg last year so is no mug, neither is his trainer.
The Mare Night Secret has won her last 5 races at a lower level and seems to have a lot to do as do Khan and Rapido who has finished nearly last in his 3 races since returning from 4 years off.
Using Red Verdon as a guide through Mirage Dancer and Best Solution, looks like Defoe would have a similar chance to Best Solution but wouldn't say that 2/1 was overpriced especially after his last performance.
Good luck Domino but has to be Iquitos for me.

Thanks for that input Stewarts, but I'll personally be very surprised and disappointed if Defoe doesn't win. He wasn't 100% in Ireland and was bloodless in his first two races. Yard genuinely feel he is an L'Arc horse and he has everything going for him today, if he is going to have any chance at Longchamp he needs to be winning today.
Report stewarts rise • September 2, 2018 2:42 PM BST

@Flukes

Nope wouldn't bet on 2 flies up a wall. No losses I'm sad to tell you, and any losses I do have, I can afford to lose, otherwise wouldn't bet. Sorry to upset you on that.

Lost £100 with Sky Bet, £195 up on Betfair. Happy with that for a day, but will have a few bets on second half of football as well.
