i think a lot depends on how determined the jockey is. Havlin probably happy to have a draw with Cosgrave. If he can't talk his way to the one he should give up. When Hanagan got one the other day you could tell he went in there determined to get it.

I wonder if the 4 day whip ban made amending the result more tricky? They would have had to give this race to Havlin and then banned him for the whip.
I still think this was a bad decision. These days they don't always call an official, public enquiry yet they did here. So they knew sth had taken place and yet it didn't effect a dead heat? Cmon man.
The betting was interesting for this because of the dead heat factor. Imo the dead heat wasn't been factored in properly. You could lay Cosgrave knowing worst way you only have to pay dead heat rules and yet he wasn't far off evens?
And what if BF had settled the market - a "Keep the race" market wouldn't have much good :/

THE SPORTNATION.BET HOME OF REWARDS FILLIES' HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4)
There appeared to be interference involving the dead-heat winners, SCOTTISH JIG (USA), ridden by Robert Havlin and PRIDE’S GOLD (USA), ridden by Pat Cosgrave. The riders were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, after which it was found that no interference had taken place.
Robert Havlin, the rider of the winner, SCOTTISH JIG (USA), was suspended for 4 days for using his whip above the permitted level from 1 ½ furlongs out.

don't buy it either. agreed there was no interference per se but there is absolutely no doubt scottish jig was carried off a straight line by prides gold veering back across the track. did that cost it a centimetre ? you'd have to say it probably did ...

Definitely hulk. The game is totally bent. I presume Cosgrave and Havlin are long term pals from the weighing room so they are happy with a "draw" and next time Cosgrave helps out Havlin. But what they are happy with shouldn't come into it it's the punters that count and that definitely should have been amended.
