Steady on boys......that was only a Listed race,  following the previous race main event ( 100K more!).

I had a fair old lump on it,  because of that reason......the Arc is a different story

Brilliant horses has Mr Gosden got currently , for sure.

j gosden suggesting others for the arc, enable and cracksman.

He has got so many brill horses at Clarehaven now.

Poor old Alec Stewart must be smiling down, and blessing from above.

Gosden has got a strong hand there. If I owned that one, I would insist it runs in the Arc.

Yes it was a shame what happened to AS, he would have gone right to the top of the trainer`s tree. Lets not forget him.

A second slower then the Yorkshire Oaks. Lets not get carried away, though it looked very impressive.

Funny story.....one day I rang Alec in his office, and when he answered the phone he said " sorry David, but you'll be best to ring back, I'm on the other phone".

Jokingly i said " well tell whoever it is to bladdy  well get off the line, as someone very important is waiting to speak to you.( I'm not important at all )

Good old Alec in his so polite way gently said... " sorry David , I cant, it's Sheikh Hamdan "!!!

I still smile about it now

He always struck me as a decent guy. Trained some very good horses. He is a sad loss to racing and a tragic way to go.
