foxy, I posted the full story earlier today on here. I have posted again below.

BetVictor have introduced a lay-to-lose guarantee on every race in Britain and Ireland after discussions with the Horseracing Bettors Forum.

In an initiative launched on Monday which is the first of its kind from a major firm covering online betting, BetVictor customers will have the chance to win up to £500 by selecting a Guaranteed Bet option.

The offer applies to win and the win part of each-way single bets placed from 11am on the day of the race and is available for any grade of race.

Coral and Ladbrokes have pledges in place to lay bets to a minimum amount on every race every day, but these are available only to betting shop customers.

BetVictor's offer followed discussions with the HBF, which has been trying to address complaints about the imposition of betting restrictions and the closure of winning accounts. Bet Victor indicated in a later tweet they could review their policy towards punters they had excluded.

"Customers who have been previously excluded from Sportsbook as a trading decision should email help@betvictor.com with the details. These accounts will be considered for wagering on this market only," it said.

Matt Bisogno: "HBF believes the Guaranteed Bet provision represents a forward-thinking approach"

BetVictor director of sportsbook Matt Scarrott said: "We entered dialogue with the Horseracing Bettors Forum earlier this year and this project is something we've been keen to implement for a while. We believe our guarantee to include each-way bets and all race classes makes it a leading industry initiative.
"Once we have trialled Guaranteed Bet for a short time, our plan is to review it with the intention of increasing limits and extending the timescales going forward."

HBF chairman Matt Bisogno said: "HBF welcomes the news that BetVictor have introduced a Guaranteed Bet provision. For the first time with a major operator, punters will be able to back any horse to win a minimum of £500, regardless of the class of race.

"Having discussed a number of issues with the team at BetVictor earlier in the year, HBF was heartened by their commitment to a fairer betting environment.

"Of course, actions speak louder than words, and today's announcement is an extremely positive step forward for British and Irish racing bettors, as well as a palpable demonstration of BetVictor's commitment.

"HBF believes the Guaranteed Bet provision represents a forward-thinking approach, and we further hope it encourages other operators to enhance their offering to horseracing bettors."

Is that not what most  racecourse Bookies used to have on their boards ? I used to laugh when I saw it on Freddie Williams board.
Report foxy • August 21, 2018 7:13 PM BST
re so many hours before i felt they were offering a very fair price but would be happy if no markets were put up before say 10 am other than proper anti post.
Report sparrow • August 21, 2018 7:14 PM BST
I have enjoyed this season foxy although it would have been better if Roaring Lion had stayed the Derby trip.
Report sparrow • August 21, 2018 7:15 PM BST
Early markets have ruined the game with punters marking the bookies cards at 9 in the morning.
Report foxy • August 21, 2018 7:17 PM BST
that seems fair from vc but will they still lay restricted punters or just close there accounts.

the displays you refer to were changed to optional for security reasons as a few books were attacked on the way home from racing.

i thought the craven meeting was very good sparrow and with enable and cracksman to look forward to i thought it may be a very good season, royal ascot held up but i thought the july meeting and goodwood were poor ,roaring lion did seem not quite to stay at epsom i think the eclipse supported that opinion, other than the coventry winner and possibly king of comedy the 2yo dont look anything special however we still have time for that to change.hopefully york and as we speak it does look like been a great first 3 days can help turn the season around.

A good card tomorrow foxy although I detest York most of the time. Been a little different this year with Ballydoyle under a cloud.
Report foxy • August 21, 2018 8:15 PM BST
whilst i dont look forward to it as much as i use to,its still a great fixture and will enjoy the 3 days i go,both the judmonte and great voltiguer look deep races,i have long found the handicaps on the round course near on impossible.
Report sparrow • August 21, 2018 8:18 PM BST
Those handicaps are the main reason for my dislike of York. People who bet in those races have no chance in the long run.

I would have plan a few days holiday around it. To say I'm not much of a jumps fan these days I seem to have attended a great deal of NH courses. I even recall my father taking me to a point to point at Tweseldown in the mid 1950s!
Report foxy • August 21, 2018 9:32 PM BST
the best jumps course to go to is kelso but that is very hard to get to but really is worth the trip berwick was the nearest station around 20 miles away ,however gordon who posts on here told me there is a new line which is now closer only opened a couple of years ago.

Yes sparrow sea of class very impressive clearly a very good filly and already proven at group one level however I think lah ti dah could be the real star we saw this week less than a second slower than sea of class with 4lb more on her back and running almost the entire straight by herself, that’s twice now I have seen her and both times I was incredibly impressed ,in recent years both ouija board and taghrooda won the pretty polly at the Guineas meeting and went on to run very well in Paris admittedly they had both had group one experience before the arc,I see the plan looks like Doncaster which is great as I love the st leger there are 22 days between the st leger and the arc that’s tight I realise but gosden is a brave trainer and with doubts over cracksman and enable who knows she may go for both . Her 6 length win at Newbury was on good to soft so autumn ground shouldn’t be a problem whereas sea of class has won her 4 races on quick ground how on earth did she get beat at the craven meeting ? Hopefully both will be seen again in the coming weeks.

Lah Ti Dah was certainly impressive foxy but not as yet proven at Group level. I remember backing her dam Doh Ra Mi to win her maiden under Jimmy Fortune and Gosden definitely has an embarrassment of riches at his disposal this season.

whilst lah ti dah does need to prove herself at a higher level she has so far been brilliant i like the pretty polly as a race over the years, even prior to ouija board and taghrooda the likes of dunfermlin and indian skimmer had won the race before going on to much better things.
Report sparrow • August 25, 2018 9:19 AM BST
Dunfermline and Willie Carson brings back fond memories foxy. I'm not a fan of Gosden's interviews after the defeat of Rainbow View in the 1000 guineas some years ago. Rainbow View was odds on that day and I actually laid it myself and so I was interested in what he had to say afterwards. He blamed the ground and said Jimmy Fortune described it like a road which was very interesting as he had a horse running later described as "would only run if suitable ground" and the horse in question had only form on soft ground including a 6 length win. Yet the horse not only ran but actually won!
