does it really matter about the betting side of the game anymore betfair sportsbook allowing 94 pence each way on one in a york group 2,i can understand some restrictions on certain races and to those who just use the firms to arb but this is ridiculous at a major festival i thought the industry was wanting to attract punters.
By:
foxy any sensible person would think that'd be the case but they don't want people who are interested in betting on racing and have treat racing as a loss leader for many years now contrary to how the game is portrayed in the media.

good evening denzil
i realise i am wasting my time moaning about it and to be honest i have long accepted the situation however this one is out of order the least i could hope for was that betfair sportsbook should be taken off the sites that indicate the best prices. |
By:
Surprised you try to bet on Sportsbook, foxy.

good evening also btw.

i hardly ever do sparrow and as stated above i have long accepted the situation and on the whole just accept betting restrictions but sometimes i think its totally unexceptable what are these punters panel or what ever they are called doing about this ?it probably would not bother me as much if i did not have to put up with betfair popping up at the interval of every sporting event telling everybody how good they are.

foxy, I posted the full story earlier today on here. I have posted again below.
BetVictor have introduced a lay-to-lose guarantee on every race in Britain and Ireland after discussions with the Horseracing Bettors Forum. In an initiative launched on Monday which is the first of its kind from a major firm covering online betting, BetVictor customers will have the chance to win up to £500 by selecting a Guaranteed Bet option. The offer applies to win and the win part of each-way single bets placed from 11am on the day of the race and is available for any grade of race. Coral and Ladbrokes have pledges in place to lay bets to a minimum amount on every race every day, but these are available only to betting shop customers. BetVictor's offer followed discussions with the HBF, which has been trying to address complaints about the imposition of betting restrictions and the closure of winning accounts. Bet Victor indicated in a later tweet they could review their policy towards punters they had excluded. "Customers who have been previously excluded from Sportsbook as a trading decision should email help@betvictor.com with the details. These accounts will be considered for wagering on this market only," it said. Matt Bisogno: "HBF believes the Guaranteed Bet provision represents a forward-thinking approach" BetVictor director of sportsbook Matt Scarrott said: "We entered dialogue with the Horseracing Bettors Forum earlier this year and this project is something we've been keen to implement for a while. We believe our guarantee to include each-way bets and all race classes makes it a leading industry initiative. "Once we have trialled Guaranteed Bet for a short time, our plan is to review it with the intention of increasing limits and extending the timescales going forward." HBF chairman Matt Bisogno said: "HBF welcomes the news that BetVictor have introduced a Guaranteed Bet provision. For the first time with a major operator, punters will be able to back any horse to win a minimum of £500, regardless of the class of race. "Having discussed a number of issues with the team at BetVictor earlier in the year, HBF was heartened by their commitment to a fairer betting environment. "Of course, actions speak louder than words, and today's announcement is an extremely positive step forward for British and Irish racing bettors, as well as a palpable demonstration of BetVictor's commitment. "HBF believes the Guaranteed Bet provision represents a forward-thinking approach, and we further hope it encourages other operators to enhance their offering to horseracing bettors." |

Is that not what most racecourse Bookies used to have on their boards ? I used to laugh when I saw it on Freddie Williams board. |
By:
re so many hours before i felt they were offering a very fair price but would be happy if no markets were put up before say 10 am other than proper anti post.
By:
I have enjoyed this season foxy although it would have been better if Roaring Lion had stayed the Derby trip.
By:
Early markets have ruined the game with punters marking the bookies cards at 9 in the morning.
By:
that seems fair from vc but will they still lay restricted punters or just close there accounts.
oldgit the displays you refer to were changed to optional for security reasons as a few books were attacked on the way home from racing. |

including fw of course.

i thought the craven meeting was very good sparrow and with enable and cracksman to look forward to i thought it may be a very good season, royal ascot held up but i thought the july meeting and goodwood were poor ,roaring lion did seem not quite to stay at epsom i think the eclipse supported that opinion, other than the coventry winner and possibly king of comedy the 2yo dont look anything special however we still have time for that to change.hopefully york and as we speak it does look like been a great first 3 days can help turn the season around.
By:
A good card tomorrow foxy although I detest York most of the time. Been a little different this year with Ballydoyle under a cloud.
By:
whilst i dont look forward to it as much as i use to,its still a great fixture and will enjoy the 3 days i go,both the judmonte and great voltiguer look deep races,i have long found the handicaps on the round course near on impossible.
By:
Those handicaps are the main reason for my dislike of York. People who bet in those races have no chance in the long run.
By:
racing post showing g/firm for tomorrow, any rain about. ?? cheers.

your welcome glasgow.
in fairness stridingedge the northern trainers hold there own in the handicaps at both the dante meeting and the judmonte meeting. |
By:
Yeah you expect the usual suspects, his runners have definitely represented a bit of value at this meeting though.
By:
having knocked the handicaps over the round course there is one running of 91 tomorrow that when racing of 77 beat stradivarious.
