You beat me to it Duffy. That has to be one for the stewards. Could have won that with a chimp on board!

He got murdered x6 but no real want, well at least today.
Report duffy August 20, 2018 4:15 PM BST
He could have taken back a little and switched out wide with fully 2 furlongs to go, with the amount of horse he had left he'd have gone very close.

I've said it before and i'll keep repeating it....this fella has an aversion to the outside ( not saying he should have done that today )

He loses plenty races he should have won on hold up horses due to the decisions he makes...

i tend to find you notice the no so good jockey from great jockeys, not by what they do well, but what they do poorly .

j sullivan is one of the ones that i notice gets blocked in , doesn't get a run , more than most jockeys .

not in a "not off" way , maybe it's just how ruth carr like her horses to be ridden . about 2 furlongs out he had every chance to go on the outside, where the odds of getting blocked in were about 2000/1 , maybe 2012/1

I have had a theory about this jockey for a good few years now. My usual vantage point at tracks is high up in the Premier Enclosures, right on the line. At certain tracks - Beverley is a great example - you get a top class wide view perspective of the final two furlongs.

My theory about Sullivan is that he is super cautious about going for a gap.

To me eye, he seems to wait until a gap has fully appeared rather than go for one where a gap is likely to open. Most jocks will anticipate this and then go for the gap sooner rather than later.

Now, I have never sat on a horse and fully appreciate it must take great nerve to sit atop these very strong beasts going at close to 40mph. However, I cannot get out of my mind's eye the times I have seen Sullivan waiting behind a gap that I can see is opening. By waiting that bit too long he often seems to lose a couple of lengths.

He has had, what it is, only approx. 10 winners this season so perhaps what I have watched him do - and what he seems to have done tonight - might explain that!

... Last Thursday his ride on South Shore was exactly that The Knight. ....

Squeezed out start, took keen hold, in rear against far rail, headway but not clear run repeatedly from 2f out, hampered inside final furlong, not recover (jockey said gelding was denied a clear run on several occasions from 2f out) (tchd 6/1)

Running at Hamilton 8-05 Tomorrow ( should make amends ) imo. Happy
