Don't know but when interviewed before the race Gosden was asked about the fact there may be no pace on and relied that in that case Atzeni would have Cart Blanche on tactics. Atzeni got it wrong but 1.01 it would have made no difference.
From 'wikipedia' only 17 non-3yr olds have won this race since 1878. I think the fav needs to be given another chance; a dawdle of a race, and making the running did not suit the fav at all, I believe.

eye wateringly good for last 10 years (before today) - 7 wins 3 places 25 runners.
The Gurkha, Kingman, Toronado, Frankel, Canford Cliffs, Rip Van Winkle, Henrythenavigator all won as 3yo.
