in cases like that if he would get a 7lb pen for winning for example, handicappers should put them up 10lb,trainers would soon stop it

Until Hong Kong style fines are introduced rides like that (whether intentional or otherwise) continue

Should replace jockey`s with robots , 9 out of 10 or maybe more are pretty useless , it`s a business , and most if not all are forced into cheating maybe  !! They are riding to generate money  , if that includes cheating they don`t care , imo

Just how do they continue to get rides?

Because they are under instruction , if the owners cash was down , or the trainers , they would not get rides  again after such **** ups ! , they are riding to lose a lot of the time , that is what their boss is paying them to do ? lose ! , but the jockey has to take the flack

The problem is the weighing room is mainly populated with "thick" idle and indolent cretins and that case almost illustrates the point.  Any pointer worth his salt and who had done a reasonable amount of homework, would have have worked out that Raucous would be the source of pace in that race. 
Why on earth would you want to be 20 lengths of Raucous for most of the race on a race track that has a relatively short run-in, once ypu make the final bend?

Come on chaps, you know the rules. If he was a jockey from foreign shores he’d get slated, but as he’s a UK jockey can we please stick to the “things just didn’t pan out for unlucky Tom there but let’s take nothing away from the great ride given to the winner” line..

I know it is a long shot in the dark, but what might actually help stem the problem would be if there are any racing presenters with a little bit of courage, whether with ITV, RUK, ATR, who would actually approach jockeys on camera (not necessarily immediately after the case) and ask them to give a public explanation to the camera with respect to a questionable ride (it is only equitable for them to understand they owe punters an explanation)
At the very least, if a jockey faces the camera and gives a BS explanation, he or she will be shown in full view in true colours.  The fact they are never brought to account merely underscores why it will always continue.
(By the way, I am not suggestingor advocating a witch hunt of any jockey, but racing really has to start thinking about how it can address this problem, which happens daily)

In racing jurisdictions in the Far East and Australia, you even have to inform the racing officials, before you engage a drastic change in riding tactics. So for instance, you can't suddenly turn up to the races one day and make the running on a horse that has always been held up and vice-versa.

Problem is everyone cries and moans when it's a big shortie that gets this in a big race, but it happens so often to lesser noticed runners and barely a squeak mentioned.

Stu, regardless of what price the horse in question might be, I think it is time these jocks are forced into public embarassment in full view by the court of public opinion.  If a jockey wants to be known as a B-Sh**tter, then that it their choice.  A bad reputation takes a long time to get rid of.  We all know people make mistakes, but soon enough the repeat offenders will be flushed out.

how do they get found out a serial offender is worth his weight in gold to any trainer who no,s todays not the day for whatever reason for his horse,on certain occaisions getting a jockey who,s throwing the kitchen sink at one is the last thing they want

Didn;t see too much wrong wth the ride - although held up last he was only just behind the two that finished in front of him 3f out - he just didn't quicken up as well as they did.

Whistlejacket , a very well thought out good idea , these jock`s don`t give a hoot about punters , they only answer to trainers and owners , they should be made to justify the way they are riding in some cases , I am sure if you were a bricklayer , who built a crooked house , there would be lots of questions asked ?  . The problem is the nature of the sport means it is an easy target for bad practice , the poor old punter usually ends up holding the sport up ,lol . Some should be asking more questions , imo

I do agree all jocks should be accountable.

It makes me laugh when the defence is often given that people don't ride horses so shouldn't criticise (the 'armchair jock' argument) - well if we took that with every line of work we couldn't criticise anyone if we didn't do their job, which we all know is not true for any other profession, as jinxy's example suggests - a bad builder would be criticised regardless of our own ability to do the job, of course.
