Change the jockey change the result?....My fookin @rse....Buick was Brilliant.
Report TheFear July 28, 2018 3:50 PM BST
doyle was even brillianter tho
Report Rider July 28, 2018 3:51 PM BST
be interesting to see the split times, doyle rode the race to get the best out of his horse at the trip, that meant being brave and giving his pal a big lead, had he not got up there would have been criticism but if you ride to the gallery you'll always be average
Report acey deucy July 28, 2018 3:51 PM BST
Anybody that thinks the better Jockey Won the race needs to have a word.Plain

Superb race, both jockeys gave their horse the best chance f winning. Thanks to the great trainer for having them both spot on for the race today.

He did the same at the Curragh last week. Nice lad, good to see him doing well.

Report Rider July 28, 2018 3:56 PM BST
when there is that little in it jockeys make and difference and the splits are crucial, if buick had been on poets word its a million on he'd not have been as patient as doyle and would not have won, just my opinion
Report impossible123 July 28, 2018 3:56 PM BST
If a jockey tracking the wrong horse eg Doyle on Poets Word tracking Coronet instead of Crystal Ocean the runner-up be considered to have ridden a better race than Buick on the runner-up Crystal Ocean is beyond my comprehension.

Terrible ride by Doyle....To far back The Muppet.Plain

pity cracksman wasnt there but a great KG
Report NORTH BERWICK July 28, 2018 3:59 PM BST
I thought Doyle was lucky o get there and Buick went too soon.
Report Whippin Piccadilly July 28, 2018 4:03 PM BST
Doyle put his faith in the horse and the horse didn't let him down.....that's how I saw the race.
Report Clerkmore July 28, 2018 4:04 PM BST
Anybody know what was the best price in running on Poets Voice?
Report Clerkmore July 28, 2018 4:05 PM BST
Or Word even??

Poets went to about 15.00 ish

still got it has n't he, Stoute?

Was having my doubts earlier in the year with the shenanigans around Expert Eye and Veracious...should've known better
Report De_man July 28, 2018 4:15 PM BST
Buick was awful and Doyle too far back lol neither was great but two top notch horses.Doyle head and shouldets above Buick thou.Stoute the master
Report flukes July 28, 2018 4:15 PM BST
Biggest price Poet's was 18 in running
Report acey deucy July 28, 2018 4:17 PM BST
Jockeys aside it was a very exciting Race even if I did back the second.
Report impossible123 July 28, 2018 4:18 PM BST
With hindsight Buick could have gone for home a fraction later and Crystal Ocean would have got home infront, but hindsight is a valuable tool.
Report De_man July 28, 2018 4:22 PM BST
Pretty crazy 1.01.Wish i was a layer lol
Report differentdrum July 28, 2018 10:35 PM BST
Is this some sort of fantasy thread? Even RUK suggested Doyle was further back than ideal. Horse has saved him. Had he just got beat he would have been slated.
Report TheFear July 28, 2018 10:45 PM BST
was a good ride mate, as noted above he had the balls to risk defeat
Report Ibrahima Sonko July 28, 2018 11:14 PM BST
He rode the horse to its ability.

Doyler did state he was further back than he wanted in an interview etc.

I'm pretty sure Doyle rode the winner. ie it did not come 2nd.
Report impossible123 July 29, 2018 9:39 AM BST
It could easily have gone Graville Starkey/Dancing Brave Epsom Derby way. Undisputedly a very good race to watch unless one was on the 2nd, but on a more serious note how good was the race?

If AOB needed more confirmation about the well-being of some of her fillies Hydrangea was eased and finished tailed off despite beating Coronet who was 3rd yesterday over the same distance.

I like Poets Word he reminds me of one of my all time favourites Mtoto, late maturing simular style in simular races, however yesterday Buick cost Crystal Ocean the race the horse did nothing wrong he went for home and put his head down in a professional manner going forward and trying his best, unfortunately Buick decided to unbalance him twice by switching his whip hand instead of driving him forward, these momentum losing actions were enough to cost the horse the short distance he was beaten, I see absolutely no reason why Buick didn't just put his head down like the horse and get the job done. I agree with McCririck the whip loses more races than it wins, especially in the hands of a jockey who starts to get in a flap.

I'd have to see it again on this occasion to have an opinion but I have noticed a lot of flat jockeys switching whip hand several times in a finish even when the horse is running straight and there's no need to. No idea why they're doing this other than it being an 'in' thing.

Report acey deucy July 29, 2018 10:40 AM BST
I am a Big Fan of Both Jockeys but Doyle got away with that by the skin of his teeth.....the Winner was Awesome.
Report Blackrock July 29, 2018 11:07 AM BST
Thought if Buick hadn't kick for home when he did, the winner would have won easier than it did.

If there was a rematch i'd be on Poets all day long.
