floodlit fixtures between jan-april start 4pm, sept-dec start 6pm.
floodlit racing to be finished by 8-30pm.
15 extra floodlit fixtures sept,oct to have 2 meetings on wed,thu as a 1 year trial.
flat racing break of 6 days end of turf season nov 9th, 5 days between mar 17-21.
3 week break between cheltenham and aintree
no turf racing allocated for chelmsford.
dress it up as they like, still too much racing

Says Cartmel has got one extra fixture, I've scanned the fixture list in the Racing Post today and can only see the same 9 as this year! ( Weds May 9th now evening fixture as opposed to afternoon).

We have just had the 2019 fixture list published with an increase in meetings once again and for the life of me I cannot see why we need all these meetings. To me more is always less and it just diminishes the product, but the bookmakers are obviously in control of the BHA’s thinking. I see that the jockeys are quite happy, as we are, that no floodlit meeting will go on later than 8.30. This means that if races are split they will be put on earlier, rather than later. The fixture list just cannot keep on increasing as there is not the staff to service it and although the horses will get there, it is the ones at home that will suffer in the long run. I am sure the racecourses are also pushing for more and more fixtures. It is sad to see that Chelmsford have lost five, as in my opinion they were one of the tracks that should gain, rather than lose. Why do we need another 15 at Southwell and why do the likes of Sedgefield, Plumpton and Wolverhampton need to gain? The politics of the fixture list are beyond most people, including me.

Should be cut to 1000 meetings a year
No NH racing in June and July.
only 1 AW meeting a week in the summer.
1 AW meeting a Day in the winter. 2 on saturdays.
Derby back to a wednesday.
and Folkestone to Reopen

We have read your suggestions with great interest (amusement) and after much and careful consideration (none) we wish to thank you for your thoughts, however at this time we will not be putting any of them into operation as it goes against our ten year plan for the industry (bookmakers demands).

When the field sizes don't miraculously bounce back next season, will it still be just put down to the heatwave that we are struggling to find enough horses to fulfil the fixture list?
Agree Barton, i'd rather have two competitive meetings with lots of runners and good prize money as oppose to 5 sh1t meetings with ony 2 races a day,having 8 runners or more..think of how much prize money would go up if the prize money for 1900 meetings was divided into 1000 meetings.
