| Oliver Stammers, the rider of GREAT COLACI, placed second, had appeared to stop riding briefly approximately ½ a furlong out, then continued to ride out to the winning line. Being a 7lb claimer, Stammers was accompanied in the enquiry by a senior rider. After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Stammers’ explanation that he had mistaken the ½ furlong marker as the winning post but had quickly realised his error, was noted. The Stewards were satisfied that Stammers had only stopped riding for three strides and that no momentum was lost and as the winner was going away at the finish, they were satisfied that GREAT COLACI was always being held for second place. They reminded Stammers of his responsibilities to always ride out to the winning line |
