my main fault on betting is trying to cut corners while studying...........the more work you put in the more successful you will be........

No golden rule as such but if I think I have spotted even a little value I will troll the city centre to get the price before it disappears.
Just a small example but I got 11/10 and evens a 5/6 winner on Saturday. Now, just for example it was 2.08 just before I left home. Just suppose I stuck 1k on at 2.06. NONE of it would have been matched and disappeared into a bot queue.

Stick to consistent trainers.....Avoid the Clowns....We know who they are.
as many will drift than shorten..there is no rhyme or reason to most.

Wrong IMO.
Dependant on area will just ban you if you consistently get 11/10 going off 5/6.
Fair enough getting 50 quid on in 20 shops or 100 in 10 shops (an hour of your time gone too) if you can be bothered with the hassle.
Seems great but 1 hour for 200 quid extra profit MINUS whatever you lose from drifters not worth it IMO.
Then minus another hour when you win visiting the same different shops.
One thing i will add Stewarty WD if it gives you satisfaction beating the system.
ItsMeSwaddle, I can't remember ever conversing with you before but that's not a problem. It can be swings and roundabouts the way I operate.

I remember backing a Mullins/ Ruby beast about a year ago. It had good form and won a bumper convincingly. I got mostly 7/4 trolling. It went off at 3/1 and after two hurdles it went 18.0. It was more or less tailed off. SOMEBODY MUST have known the beast couldn't jump a hurdle but I didn't.
Some happy layers that day. As for trolling, if I have time I will visit shops in estates outside the city centre and most of them are near enough next door to pubs. I've said it many times before and I'll say it again. I can get accommodated fairly easily in the shops if I do the driving/legwork but once the £2 spin comes into effct those days will mostly be over.

Stewy u mention that u knew how Reynard worked out his ratings,let me know 
tangle, that's a bit complicated and best asked to Reynard. No offence but Reynard used to put up his ratings before you joined. I CANNOT go into details but at the time one of the most respected forumites ever to post on here. I'm sorry I cannot share anymore with you even though you are one of the better posters on here. Christ, only miss steww and a few others know the full story.

steve, we were leaving the bookies and Big D said something like 'stew is a canny punter'. Jeez Iv'e known geordies over half my life and a word escapes me.
Anyways his nephew was getting a bit animated in the bookies because unknown to me he had never backed a horse before. I'm fairly sure D would have paid his debt if beat but I worry if I have inadvertently planted the seed in the young lad's head re: punting.

This place is full of wimps now. No 3am conversations.
Iolani was an interesting one, bet the video mob were all over it at Carlisle. Then went to Catterick, when weak in the betting, and got what I would call a Graham Lee 'waiting' ride, and what intrigued me at Catterick was that the trainer saw the need to report an excuse for the seemingly poor run.
Alas, when the money was seemingly down today (though did drift in the betting close to the off), it didn't see it out having been up there for a fair way.

Look at them in the paddock, bet them if you're happy with what you see, if not no bet...That's my golden rule, but if I'm honest I don't always abide by it...

the only people who really win in the long-term are the bookies. best thing is not to bet in the first place.
gambling a waste of time imo. much easier ways of making money. if you want to do something similar then just play the stock market, much easier than trying to predict which random gee gee will beat another random gee gee around a muddy field, hundreds of miles from where you live.

All sound advice that Roadrunner. Also it helps if you tell the jockey on your payroll to race without cover on the keen going horse you own when it runs at Royal Ascot so that you can lay it for as much as possible, which is much easier to do with the liquidity on the exchanges at the Royal meeting. Then enter said horse at Newbury, put a hood on it and get plenty of cover but tell the jockey to hit the front 2 out because the horse has so much in hand and there won't be any chance of getting block in or leaving it to late because the lay money made at Ascot is all on to win today plus a bit more. Fecking easy game then!

2.Do not bet in any subsequent race that season on any horse that got beyond 2nd Beechers in the National.(Though I did to my profit on Red Rum,Mr Frisk and Andy Pandy.)
3.These days,don't bet in the National.Before the race was ruined I viewed it as a once in the year opportunity to get the better of the bookmakers.These days it's just another big field handicap.

in recent years i have gone right off horses, find it difficult to choose a horse and stick with it usually changing my mind to disaster effects i have a habit of listening to either the tv pundits and reading the post and changing selection and bang the original selection most likely always comes in,i find the football a far better way for winners and enjoy it more,ive also changed my staking to smaller stakes not that ive ever been a big gambler at all.
