Is this some sort of joke? Surely if the prices were reversed it would be a far more accurate reflection of what they have achieved?

Perhaps Mary Tudor - 1 listed win in seven starts - is also twice as good as Laurens?

Laurens yet to win over further than 10f and has won her race out in France, which the form has subsequently been let down. Sea Of Class just beat the English Oaks and Ribblesdale winners in the Irish Oaks, I would suggest the prices are correct. Laurens price will contract when she proves she stays or beats something capable of lining up in an L'Arc.

think laurens is bred to be better over 12f but its hard to judge how good SOC is........be surprised if she wasn't much better than the neck she won at the weekend

Sea Of Class was unproven over the trip until the Irish Oaks. She has been ridden like a non-stayer on all her starts. If they try to repeat those tactics in an Arc it could be game over very, very quickly. Personally, I think the form of the Irish Oaks and English Oaks is very ordinary at best. On quick ground Forever Together just looks slow and Magic Wand may well have been below par. You conveniently didn't mention Mary Tudor. How has the Prix De Diane form been let down? I would say it is relatively untested and in any case her record shows that Laurens is a filly that time and again just does enough. There is no indication that she won't improve for an extra trip. Sea Of Class is also unproven on ground anything worse than good. I fail to be convinced that falling over the line in a seven runner race accounts for a 20 point difference in the race that will almost certainly present totally different test. What has Haggas actually said? After all he didn't even think she was ready enough for the English Oaks.

Ante post prices are not meant to reflect what horses have achieved. It's about what they may achieve. You can argue differently about which one of them would finish in front if they met each other, but if you are considering which one has the potential to win an Arc then the more lightly race and less exposed Sea If Class clearly has more potential to improve. I wouldn't fancy either but quite clearly Sea of Class has to be the shorter of the two in the betting.

Have the connections of Laurens indicated that there is a serious intention to go for the Arc?
Report domino14 • July 23, 2018 3:03 PM BST
Laurens beat the same horses in the French Oaks that she beat in the trial and the slightly unlucky in the run 4th Happily hardly boosted the form at Sandown.

For me Laurens has done well to win 2 group 1's this season. She has never run a figure above 112 and you need to run 125 to win an L'Arc. Where is the stone improvement coming from ???? I don't see it myself and think 33/1 is a fair price.

Sea Of Class I actually think won easier than people realise on Saturday. James Doyle was clearly tracking Magic Wand expecting her to carry him into the race and when she didn't pick up, he found he had 3/4L to find on the leader from 2f down, the horses class saw him through, and I think if she ran against the winner again, she would beat it further. She beat Athena easily at Newbury and ran to 109 and then 115 on Saturday, she still has 10lb to find, but she is bred to stay, handle slower ground and in my opinion is open to more improvement than Laurens. I would not be surprised if she went for the L'Arc, but to win a normal L'Arc she needs to find 10lb improvement, which whilst unlikely is not impossible.

The 10-12f division is very weak at present and that should give them hope.

Laurens is being prepped for the Yorkshire Oaks and so is Forever Together. Hopefully, Magic Wand too if back to her normal self after a below par performance in the Irish Oaks at short odds, but doubtful, in my book; an excellent rating evaluation if all turn up.

Together Forever had 1st run and several lengths advantage over Sea Of Class but the latter still managed to win cosily in the end - a similar result should they meet again, I believe, all things being equal.

I think Laurens was well-placed to win two Gp 1 race and the Fillies Mile but might I say, a touch fortunate especially when beating Happily in France and September at Newmarket; she's open to further improvement nevertheless, but I'd put her behind Sea Of Class at present given the latter's cosy victory over Forever Together who was not exactly stopping at the weekend.

laurens has peaked, sea of class has not

impossible........think soft ground there might be a different result........feeling its very important to FT
Report impossible123 • July 24, 2018 9:18 AM BST
I think soft ground would help Forever Together (FT). And unless Sea Of Class (SoC) is inconvenienced by it turning the result around could be a tall order, I believe, as FT was not stopping at he business end. (SoC) managed to quicken whereas FT just stayed on strongly.

The £64k question is will SoC head for the Arc this year or next, all being well with her? She's still progressing with each race, and the wfa allowance could be the deciding factor for connections, I believe; possibly the ground too, if soft.

I see the form of the Diane continues to be 'let down' with Homerique and With You easily winning a Group 3 and Group 1.

Not too sure that Happily let the form down either. Ground at Sandown was almost certainly quicker than her ideal.

Should think the Yorkshire Oaks will provide a useful steer.

Ground more in favour of Sea Of Class but I would far sooner take the 4/1 Laurens. Sea Of Class has been nursed home so far but I suspect she will be running on fumes if it comes down to a battle with Laurens.
Report cardifffc • August 21, 2018 3:31 PM BST
different...........the speed rating of sea class is poor and I would be against her tomorrow.......I think laurens on pedigree will improve for the extra distance
Report differentdrum • August 21, 2018 4:33 PM BST
To me Sea Of Class is a crazy price for Thursday and the Arc. There seems to be a massive hype surrounding the horse. She has a win over the trip but the Irish Oaks wasn't a good race for the grade and she just got home. Forever Together's one win came in the Oaks when she was probably the only horse who got home in the conditions. She was previously outpaced by Urban Fox who clearly isn't a proper Group 1 horse.

want to see the ground & draw 1st ash
and of course IF she runs
but she has an obvious profile for an arc

Enable ( in the Sun Princess class ) v. winner of one of the poorest yorkshire oaks of recent years.
Report wondersobright • August 23, 2018 3:51 PM BST
enable who we haven't seen this year following her problems and as a 4yo conceding the wfa
Report howard • August 23, 2018 3:58 PM BST
wfa is no argument. It's there for a reason. Remember many of the greats we never see at their best as 4 year olds. Over the years it has given  a false impression that 3 years have a big advantage.
