I'd rather back a horse trained by Chuck Berry
By:
Some of us can remember when Berry horses were always will prepared for first outing.
By:
It would be interesting to know how many staff he has working for him.
I noticed he was leading his own horse up at Catterick in the week |
By:
did he ever,,,,usually takes two generations to ruin the family business, he's managed it in one
By:
Had a hell of a lot to live up to tbf...a nigh on impossible task
By:
How could he ever make this game pay? (Pink button perhaps?)
Clearly knows nothing else or you'd think he's have chucked it a long time ago. |
By:
@Somerset Sam
You would need some bank to lay one of his, I would say over 50% of his runners are 60+ on here. |
By:
bank of mum & dad?
By:
Alan's Dad has never backed him. Not a yard I can remember riding for tbh, but I knew it was common knowledge in the weighing room, that his Dad preferred to have his horses elsewhere and has never given Alan any money, and actually made Alan buy the yard off him. He actually has a shrewd former Irish trainer working for him, so you wouldn't know who trains the horses.

it was he

By:
The jockey who rode it Paul Bradley has since been warned off for giving laying info with jockeys as well when working at Easterby's.
Think the Farrier and the jockey had it away behind Alan's back. |

By:
Domino you do make sweeping statements.
Alan was fully aware of what was going on |
By:
no doubt the forum system will kick in this week now and mr Berry will have a winner within the next week

By:
@Mrcombustible
I've made no sweeping statement at all. I have said I think it was the Farrier and the jockey, and doubt Alan involved. On the other hand you make a statement saying he fully knew what was happening. Alan was of course acquitted of all charges, so if he did know he surely would have been found guilty. It's worth noting the farrier no longer does the yards or Jonjo's horses, the two main yards he worked for at the time of the incident, and the jockey has subsequently been warned off in regards to laying of horses with a jockey. Alan on the other hand, has not had any issues regarding his character as to whether his horses are trying or not. Hindsight if anything would suggest it was more than likely Alan was an innocent party in my opinion. |
By:
The reason Alan was acquitted of all charges was that there were going to be 3 trials. Rodgers,F Lynch,S.Lynch Fallon,Williams,Sherkle was the first trial, the CPS lost their bottle with the collapse of the first trial and never proceeded with trial 2 and 3.
Trial 2 involved the layers , Miles Rodgers associates and trial 3 was Alan Berry. Alan could never have been found guilty as his case did not go to trial. There are things I cannot say on a public forum but you are very very wide of the mark |
By:
Go on.....tell us
Just put 'allegedly' at the end of it. |
By:
@Mrcombustible
He was subject to a BHA investigation as well, not just the police one. He was acquitted of all charges by them, and they are quick to warn off anyone bent. |

They are Scared Money, the minute they have an investigation or any proof, you're gone. A very good pal of mine is now warned off for a very long time, he admitted he stopped a couple of horses on the orders of owners of the horse, he's now paying the price. I simply would never do it, but the BHA aren't as thick as people think they are.
By:
Sorry Domino I forgot you used to be a jockey and are now a workrider. You would know a lot more about Alan Berry than I would. I guess you are correct in your assumptions.
By:
Their terrified to prosecute anyone though arnt they dom.....we see it every day at the gaff tracks....horse drifts lake a barge and surrenders the outside to no one
By:
The BHA prosecute loads Scaredmoney, there have been many owners, trainers, jockeys, stable lads, pro gamblers all warned off. On average around 30/35 more people a year, I would say this suggests the BHA are doing a good job.
Not a workrider @Mrcombustible, not worked in racing since 2013, ride the odd lot for mates who are owners now and again, but no workrider anymore. |

Adrian has lived and breathed racehorses from the day he was born. From the early days going racing with his Father dandy (David Nicholls) where he received his nick name trotter from the lads in weighing room because he trotted behind dandy’s every step. At the early age of 15 Adrian went to ride in Norway after finding a loop hole in the age restrictions. After 3 months off racing he was then teamed up with Barry hills at his legendary stables as stable apprentice, whilst there for a year and a half learning a great deal. Adrian was then offered a role at kingcleare stables as stable apprentice to Derby winning trainer Ian Balding this was a great learning curve learning about all aspects of racing within 3 years he rode out his claim in the Ayr gold cup. Adrian continued his upward rise in the weighing room riding multiple group and listed winners, including two group ones this was the highlight of a career that expanded over 19 years riding all over the world riding winners in 12 country’s along the way. All the time learning different ways off training and horse care. Adrian now embarks on his dream role as a trainer putting all theses skills to use along him is Clare his wife was born into racing in Ireland her father and brother former trainers. Clare was apprentice to Adrian’s father David learning from him and key member of staff Ben Beasley she has a vast understanding of all aspects of horse care and is Adrian’s right hand lady.

August Update …
WEll we started the month off hopefully as we mean to go on, as the horses are running well and in great form. Lances’ 3 last runs have been very solid and he seemed to enjoy the ladies touch in the Amatuer race under a lovely ride from Harriett Lees Xtara went to Hamilton where had to run with a 6lb penalty, he ran avery solid race in defeat. Xtara was a very game second and will relish the step up in trip next time out. Vivernus has completed his 6 weeks rest and is now back inthe game, he has been the best patient so we are hoping its all systems go from now. Th eback end of this month to the start of next we are hoping to get some more of our two year olds out, but no rush as its all head of them |

Adrian is married to Clare Roche, used to be Dandy's apprentice.
