I'm towning it later on to get all the 6/4 I can. 2s with the books but hard pressed to notice any danger to this beast , gl/al. Unless any genuine 2/1 on here it's breakfast and bet

with the books here. No idea about the discrepancy in price but will try my best to get the best odds available. g/l All.

This is not a town job being 2's here and 6/4 with the books.. Best keep an eye on the market given the price difference but my beast has the best form imho. That said, a big difference in prices...

What on earth are you talking about?
Report GEORGE.B July 11, 2018 9:42 AM BST
Good luck stewarty

I see he's actually rated a lb inferior to the Burrows horse on official ratings.

I think it's fair to say Artamon hasn't looked the easiest, but against that could be the sort to benefit from the headgear.

You have Horatio Star who's from a stable whose horses can improve massively from a debut run.

But the one that interests me the most the O'Meara filly Makawee who was a big eyecatcher on debut over 7f, and again over a mile lto when keeping on well as if in need of a longer trip. She's taking a marked step up to 12f here.

Artarmon
Report stewarty b July 11, 2018 9:58 AM BST
You make valid points GEORGE but I couldn't be having Horatio Star or the Mawawee beast taking my money. As for the Burrows beast it does have in it's favour Burrows strike rate in the last 14 days (40%) But I've got it in my head now that my selection has the best form. GF/l if playing.
Report stewarty b July 11, 2018 10:00 AM BST
As D points out I should have named it imo!
Report GEORGE.B July 11, 2018 10:06 AM BST
The vet reported that Horatio Star appeared to be suffering from ringworm on its debut 25 days ago.

Though whether that made it run any faster or slowed it down, if either, I wouldn't know!

Hang on, I should try looking at the form every now and then, just seen that the Burrows hoss was behind Meehan's at Sandown, though he had been put into the heat of the race before fading.

Not a confident pick, particularly on a third run for a mark, but I'll stick with Makawee at the prices, as the step up in trip could benefit this half-sister to the useful stayer Prince Of Arran.
Report stewarty b July 11, 2018 10:51 AM BST
I'm off out to take some 15/8 although oddsckecker are poor at the moment. I don't think that will be far off it's BSP/SP and I wont have to pay 5% commission if it obliges plus BOG, double result blah blah blah.
Report Cork Langer July 11, 2018 11:49 AM BST
Do you keep records of your selections...?
The one's that I have come across on here suggest you would be a fair bit down if you were using level stakes, the criteria you use seems to be simply any short priced favourite that you believe should be even shorter = value.
Today's pick appears to have regressed and is taking on five others that should have plenty of improvement still left in them, in your favour Bell has a decent profitable strike rate at the course with 3yo especially over the last five years, good luck I hope it wins for you but it wouldn't strike me as a good thing.
Report stewarty b July 11, 2018 11:53 AM BST
I never said it was a good thing and a reluctant g/l if you lay it.

Looked like he had ample opportunity to make headway down the flank of the field towards the overall leaders but switched it in behind the main body of the field?

Body language right from the stalls horrible for me. All I am going to say is I would totally disregard that "below par run" next time that horse is seen out.

The phrase used was "it wouldn't strike me as a good thing" I made no inference to you hence use of the word "me"

As for ......'Today's pick appears to have regressed and is taking on five others that should have plenty of improvement still left in them,'

As you are not a bad un I wont say something simple like 'what meds blah blah blah' But are we speaking about the same race????
Report Cork Langer July 11, 2018 12:42 PM BST
Best we wait for the race as it appears you are unable to comprehend or perhaps accept simple facts as listed in the raceform

started off placed in a couple of class 4's
dropped to an a/w class 5 that it failed to win
placed 4th of 6 in a ropey class 3 at Leicester
placed again in a class 4 at Sandown
beaten again in a class 5 a/w
today goes into a turf class 5 at lowly Catterick

that to me shouts regression and that Bell is anxious to get a win into it so that it can be sold as a jumping prospect as it is going to struggle to pay for its keep on the flat on what it has shown to date.

Good luck with your bet, I will not be laying it as the race makes no appeal to me at all, other than now to see how your pick goes and to see which of our evaluations of the merits of the horse are closest, win or lose.

By that you are basically saying that East Wind and Afloraldance have a chance to upset my selection?
Report TheAnorak July 11, 2018 1:02 PM BST
Goodness knows what Burrows is trying to achieve with his runner, but he'll do well to win a 12F race with a son of Havana Gold that has no stamina help from the dam side. Gave no sign of staying even 10F last month.
Report Cork Langer July 11, 2018 1:06 PM BST
I did indeed say that, as in the 5 horses combined have had only 9 races between them, therefore they would I imagine have plenty of improvement to come as they are very much unknown quantities when compared to your choice which is having its 7th run.
I have no idea of the merits of any of the five but given the choice of backing yours or having the other five run for me, I would opt for the five every time based on probability alone.
Report stewarty b July 11, 2018 1:31 PM BST
Going by your theory it must be worth having a fiver each on East Wind and Afloraldance.
Report Cork Langer July 11, 2018 1:37 PM BST
Who knows, it is a poor race that your selection may well win, but it is the type of risk that I would not contemplate taking for the probable payout.

You were going to town 3 hours ago to back it but are still on here, are you having second thoughts...? 15/8 everywhere so you haven't missed anything and 2/1 on here
Report stewarty b July 11, 2018 1:40 PM BST
CL, trust me, when I hit the city centre five minutes from my home I can place ten bets within twenty minutes. And that's without the car.
Report stewarty b July 11, 2018 1:41 PM BST
* for future reference that should read miss stew's car.
Report GEORGE.B July 11, 2018 2:16 PM BST
I wouldn't describe Artarmon as regressive just yet. The run at Sandown, he probably did well to get as close as he did given how that race panned out; and last time he ran into an unexposed one of Gosden's and the third has won since off 73. He does seem to have the most solid form. He has raced lazily and the first time visor could help.

But as Cork says, the others are open to progression, and I'm interested to see the O'Meara filly gets on upped to 12f.

Thanks lads and without blowing my trumpet these races are made for me. The further they go in a maiden the better here. (I think 1mile 6f is the longest maiden, Redcar maybe)?

That said, give me a sixteen runner handicap and I will give you a beast that will hopefully give you a run for your money.

As for this race you will never see six of them on ITV 3 on a Saturday..

Thanks D. Many people wonder why I bother trolling the books in the city centre and other parts of Aberdeen. Well, here's me got 15/8 a 6/4 winner so it looks like it was fancied..

That said, and as I've said before, when the £2 per spin comes in my trolling days may be over given there are fifty one books in the city and likely to be halved when the boat starts to sink..

well done sb

plenty bookies introducing self service betting terminals , interesting that they dont seem to
discriminate so you can keep placing bets in shops where some staff dont like you!

£10 ew phoned through today on 100/1 golfer, machine was win only but no referal

maybe machines will be the way forward, maybe placed into other sites in future ?

seemingly you can transfer winnings onto a phone, i told girl i'd have to unplug it
from wall at home, and she looked at me as if i was stupid....

Is it even money your pick BB? Again, I'm not blowing my trumpet but in the eighties and nineties I could get on for plenty with any of the big three. I forget but what year did the FOBT's take over?
Report stewarty b July 11, 2018 3:47 PM BST
If this place ever dies a death that will be the end of my punting. That said on busy days you can still get on for plentyish elsewhere at 2%.
Report Barton Bank July 11, 2018 3:51 PM BST
My guess is more effort spent promoting online games and poker tbh. Probably make little difference to the taking of racing bets in the shops.
Report stewarty b July 11, 2018 4:07 PM BST
Yes, but what shops? If they don't take bets they will all close down. I kid you not if every time someone sticks 200 and it goes to a trader they will collapse. Not a bookie in sight and the 'clever' traders will be first to go. (nap)
Report Barton Bank July 11, 2018 4:21 PM BST
Surely they will continue to lay habitual losing customers.
Report Barton Bank July 11, 2018 4:22 PM BST
They will have more customers per shop as some of the shops will have closed.
