Mart - I had access an account that offered all of the above about 6/7 years ago, had a couple of Champion Hurdle days with Paddy and Ruby in there before racing etc, offer of six nations etc etc etc. Only got offered any of that because the account was about 80 grand behind at the time. Some inconvenient facts - information taken from the France Galop website. The winners of the Prix Colonel Bidault for the last six years, showing the time and official going report: 2013 Nicknack 3m 52.56 Very Soft 2014 Baie Des Iles 3m 55.57 Soft 2015 Apples Jade 3m 58.97 Soft 2016 Next To Me 3m 51.2 Soft 2017 Apples Shakira 3m 57.45 Very Soft (3.8) 2018 Best Stroke 3m 50.45 Soft (3.5) So neither of the Apples ran a fast time compared to the average. And the addition of penetrometer readings to the going reports suggest that the clerk at Vichy is a relation of Kirkland Tellwright, as 3.5 indicates ground softer than 3.8, the exact opposite of his going reports. As someone that has been closely monitoring French NH racing for at least ten years, anybody that takes the slightest notice of times or going reports from France is wasting effort. About one in a hundred races is run at what we'd consider a decent pace, and 'souple' appears in every going report, even if you can see dust being kicked up when you watch the races. Looking at those six results above, the obvious conclusion is that the slower the time, the better the horse Mart - any chance of a reply to TheAnorak???? |
