Apologies Baracouda, I must have hit my "Create topic" button at about the same time as you!

Definitely a kick in the teeth for RUK given the hullabaloo when they secured the rights from the stranglehold of ATR
Report Kriskin July 10, 2018 11:36 AM BST
Great news.  The more they take away from RUK the better

Should never have jumped ship in the first place.

Shame a few of the other jewels are not up for grabs. When they find themselves competing for space with the Irish they won't be feeling so smug.
Report portmanpark July 10, 2018 11:49 AM BST
good news.
Report baracoudafan July 10, 2018 11:51 AM BST
NP Aladdin.

Think RUK have got quite a lot of their bigger tracks locked down, but will be interesting when those are up for renewal. The money and exposure Sky can offer will be tempting.
Report xmoneyx July 10, 2018 11:54 AM BST
what will be left at ATR
Report geoff m July 10, 2018 11:56 AM BST
WTF is good news about that when you can watch on terrestial tv  3 or 4 seconds in front of atr.
Report portmanpark July 10, 2018 12:02 PM BST
Geoff...........less clutter on ruk.No nevison.

Any chance they can keep Ascot and give them the Irish jumps instead?

Who wants Wexford (for example) clashing with the English Flat? Crazy
Report GEORGE.B July 10, 2018 12:10 PM BST
I'd even throw in the English jumps as well!
Report Rider July 10, 2018 12:15 PM BST
if sky/atr are going to improve their picture speed and quality and not show adverts as the horses go to post, then fine, but they only seem to be going one way in that respect, its a channel for the quick buzz of a bet, you'd think ascot would have more respect for their product

Absolutely rider

Sure it's been said that they intend to show Sky Sports Racing in HD

Will Kammy be doing the ring reports?
Report DenzilPenberthy July 10, 2018 12:33 PM BST
For a fee I'm sure he'd have a go.

He can't be any worse than Nevo.
Report GEORGE.B July 10, 2018 12:38 PM BST
They'll have anyone on RUK nowadays. I'm sure if you just turn up with your notepad and a few notes jotted down, they'll give yer a gig!

------------

The bulk of the, "bigger tracks,"  are owned by Jockey Club Estates - such as Cheltenham, Newmarket et al - and those Tracks THEMSELVES are SHAREHOLDERS in RUK... so no moves.

I remember the days when they had top quality pundits on like these!

1. Phil '20%' Curry
2. That fella at Catterick with his little black book
3. Peter Harris
4. Ken Pitterson
5. Gerald Delamere
6. Andy Constantinou
7. Andrew Barr (whatever happened to him, eh?)
8. Steve Taylor (or was he ATR, I forget Crazy)
9. Steve Beal

I'm sure you will all agree, a look back into the past wearing rose tinted glasses and not enough for a top 10!
