Any kind of vigorous ride would have sufficed, instead we got the tender hands and heels, family connections.. O brien.. Not today. Stinks.

why would you bet in a race like that
Report carrot1960 July 8, 2018 2:27 PM BST
Did you not see the "mule" put it's head in the air as the winner challenged again near the line and give it away

Not a fan normally but have a look at its earlier runs.
Report kavvie July 8, 2018 2:40 PM BST
he obviously was under instructions not to hit the horse.and he must have some skill to deliberately lose but  lead with 10 yards top go and still get beaten a nose?!?!

people should really stop embarrassing themselves in public.
Report howard July 8, 2018 2:41 PM BST
pandora can't comment on the jockeys but I strongly suggest that you judge jockeys when riding genuine horses. The first and second is that race are total dodgepots. Winner in running first start 1.01 ( lost ) and 1.04 today ( won , much bigger in photo )

Any talk of embarrassment should be directed towards Seamie, sorry to say, and I didn't have a bet in the race, Mr Heffernan, not for the first time, has played the gimp role, 'after you oh Son of Aidan, and let me know if there's anything else I can do to help my boss's son win the Jockeys Championship'. Seamus is a thoroughly dislikeable individual, who will and has done anything to keep the Coolmore mafia happy. Colm O'Donohughe, although on oçcasion bee forced to play a similar role, has at least imo kept his integrity intact!

ihal ive seen you talk a bit of sense before but ur embarrassing yourself here. look at the fillys previous runs.same action and reluctance to pass.id say if she got one slap of a whip she would put on the brakes altogther.to my mind it was one of the rides of the season in defeat to get so close and still lose on a filly who clearly doesnt want to pass. and as i said above she briefly led so if it was a plot to let josephs win he really showed great skill in losing by so little!!

Kavvie, you and I couldn't have watched the same race, had Seamie pressed the button Beach could have won at least three lengths. Donnacha getting off the beast to ride the fav put Heffo on alert as to what was expected and Mr Gimp didn't disappoint! He's a serial offender! CoD, on the other hand, comes across as a decent, honest and trustworthy individual. I'd love to think that his burgeoning link with Jessica Harrington continues to prosper and gives him an escape route from Coolmore!

hes left coolmore a good while. we  obv didnt see the same race. in the race i seen heff was riding furiously 2 f out without using the whip.he narrowly failed to get a reluctant filly home. despite leading narrowly 10 meters from the line.as the filly would pull up if touched with a whip can you tell us where the 3l could have come from?

Kavvie you've answered your own question, at no stage was Heff 'riding furiously', closer examination of the finish indicates he actually took a pull just before the line. Didn't know CoD had left the Mafia, now I wonder why would a top jock leave the most powerful racing operation in the world. Delighted for him

He was very good on Broadway at Sandown on Saturday.

Made all when it won its maiden. Expecting a similar ride to Doyle from a favourable draw but steadied into a clear last and given absolutely no chance. A total waste of a run.

The notion that the O'Briens are plotting and farting around to manufacture a jockeys championship for DOB is laughable.
If today they wanted to ensure a winner for DOB -they would  not have entered Coral Beach at all or would have found some pretext to withdraw the dodgepot  and leave a penalty kick for DOB...but the very idea is utterly preposterous.
Why do people persist in fabricating such tosh ?
Report ihal essex July 9, 2018 3:36 PM BST
Vubiant: what is preposterous is the notion that Coolmore never resort to dodgy tactics - Messrs Tabor, Magnier and McManus have pulled more than a few strokes in amassing their obscene wealth, with the help of ask-no-questions, subservient, employees like Heffernan. Seamie probably didn't need to be asked, he knows his place and it's definitely not to finish in front of his boss's son - unless, of course "The Boys" directed him otherwise. Unfortunately, while gullible, well-meaning, unquestioning souls like your good self continue to proliferate in the sport we all love, Coolmore's odious operation will continue to flourish!

You'll be lucky if you are not sued for that.
Report Vubiant July 9, 2018 5:27 PM BST
I appreciate your clear concern for the maintenance of integrity and fair play in racing ihal essex -and I'm not saying that all at  Ballydoyle  are a bunch of choirboys. It's quite a stretch though to think that an operation dedicated to winning Group races and producing high-earning stallions is going to be bothered in the slightest about Donnacha winning yet another maiden race or whether he is or isn't 'champion jockey'. For  a lot of jockeys, having  the title on their CV could indeed mean  a higher  profile and a more lucrative career -but Donnacha already has a profile and will be financially secure no matter what. In fact he'll probably have to cease riding before too long  -not like he's planning to build a career in the saddle over the next 20/25 years.
You may well be able to highlight other issues of substance relating to all kinds of skullduggery in racing but I respectfully suggest that your concern in this instance is misguided .
There's another key point to completely demolish your implausible contention about Heffernan. Coral Beach is a choicely bred filly whose value increases considerably if she becomes a winner. Who knows when she might get a better chance than she had in a weak field like yesterday's ? Her connections would surely prefer she had done the business rather than plough on trying to find a race she can win. It may well happen but you try to take every chance you get . She could be injured tomorrow and not race again.
Incidentally I'm surprised Coral Beach has not raced beyond 6f-she's by a miler out of a dam whose sire's progeny  win races with a distance  average over 11f. She should be stepped up to a mile or so next time. We'll watch that space.
Report ihal essex July 9, 2018 6:32 PM BST
Vubiant, of course a jockeys championship means little to the Coolmore operation, though much more to an obviously doting dad patently wanting his so  to succeed, my remarks chiefly concern Seamie's all-too-apparent willingness to sacrifice his own chance of glory for the greater good of what he believes, possibly erroneously, is the role expected of him. Mr Heffernan has got lots of form as I'm sure you are aware. Like you, I expect Coral Beach to be successful when stepped up in distance, though preferably ridden by Donnacha!

Still Losing - brilliant name, carry on mate!

if the race didnt involve them and the front 2 were trained by others, no one would have bated an eyelid imo. nothing to see and similar rides are seen every day of the week, on 2YO's and the ones that arent entirely straight forward

I was there yesterday and backed the winner, as they passed me in the stands Coral went a neck up and Heffo was pushing for all his worth , my money appeared to be vanishing down the drain, but she held on and Don should get a little more credit rather than Heffo getting the blame..
