An interesting race that is open to 3 yo colts and fillies over 1m, no fillies are running this year, tends to be won by horses just below the top tier of their year.
This years renewal brings together form lines from the English 2000gs, French 2000gs, Irish 2000gs and German 2000gs.
Also there is collateral form through the form lines of Olmedo to the English 1000gs and French 1000gs so a race certainly worth looking into.
I'll go through them in racecard order:
1 Olmedo
Won the G1 French 2000gs from Hey Gamman,Dice Roll,Wooton, and US Navy Flag with only 1/4 length separating the front 3. This race hasn't worked out well since with none of the principles managing to get in a blow in the Prix du Jockey club but that was over 2 1/2 furlongs further on soft ground. Think we have to forgive that run and musy have a solid chance today.
2 Wusool has won 4 out of his 5 races beating Magic Babou 3 1/2 lengths in a G3 at Chantilly over 1m on GS ground, that horse was 6 lengths behind Olmedo in the F2000, Wusool seems to be on the upgrade, his trainer has won this race before with Turtle Bowl in 2005 and his sire Speightstown also had a winner of this race with Lord Shanakill in 2009. Seems to have a bit to find on form but no forlorn hope.
3 Hey Gamman Englnds sole entry, just pipped by Olmedo in the F2000 before weakening in the Jockey club, must have similar chance to Olmedo.
4 Intellogent, finished in front of Olmedo and the others in the Jockey club but appears better on soft ground over further than todays 1m but did win a G3 on good ground in May, by Intello don't think he'll be quick enough for this.
5 Cascadian trained by A Fabre and owned by Godolphin looks a lethal combination in this race, supplemented for this race after beating Tigre du Terre of Hannons at Maisson Lafitte in a conditions race with the rest of the field 8 lengths and more behind. Tigre Du Terre only won a c2 h'cap at Sandown yesterday off 98 but had hacked up at Ripon by 10 lengths previously and looks one very much on the upgrade. Cascadian by New Approach out of a G3 and listed winning mare looks open to loads of improvement after winning 3 out of four runs so far. Fabre trains the filly Wind Chimes just btn in 3rd in the F1000gs by Teppal, Musis Amica just denied in the French oaks by Lauren with Happily behind as well as Mer et Nuages who beat Wusool and intellogent earlier in the season, could have ran any of these but has supplemented this horse, think this will be my selection at an EW price.
6 Gustav Klimt O'Briens sole runner in another French race that he hasn't won, don't know how many runners he's had to be fair.
One of the favs for our 2000gs finished 6th btn 3 1/2 lengths, same distance behind Romanised in the Irish 2000gs but appeared to improve on those 2 runs when 1/2 length 2nd to Without Parole in the St James Palace, with 2000gs 2nd Tip Two Win 3 1/2 lengths back in 4th and the other Irish Guineas horses well behind, Wooton whose form ties in closely with Olmedo was also over 3 lengths back in 3rd. If he can reproduce that form should go close here but with the proviso that his best form is on GF ground.
7 Ancient Spirit winner of the German 2000gs, bolted in at Cologne, hard to make out how good this form is but had British raiders Fighting Irish and Zamann 6 lengths and 10 lengths behind, Zamann does have some form behind Gustav Klimt and Expert Eye last year also won a listed race at Meydan in March. This horse annialated them by Invincible Spirit who also sired another fabre winner of this race Territories in 2015.
We tend to overlook the German form until they win an Arc or a King George but this may have a real chance, a link to watch the German 2000 gs below, good luck whatever you back.

Was rather unkind to O'Brien, having looked through all the Prats since 2008 can only find i runner for him that was Zoffany 2nd to Fabres Mutual Trust btn hd in 2011, looks like this will be his best chance of winning a G1 with Gustav Klimt now so you can well understand why he's running him.

Is it still beyond Betfair to put colours, jockeys and trainers against French races?.

john rickman still lives.

That’s some commentary.

Good right up...I was toying with the Hamden horse but I kept dithering and now the price is gone. Backed Intellogent in the Derby...if you like a fighter / battler then you’ll like him but I think he might find this a little too quick.

Decided in the that GK was worth 1 more chance. My only bet is a double on him and Royal Youmzain in the German Derby.

I'm with you on Cascadian.  He did really well to reel in Tigre du Terre, who wasn't stopping, at Maisons Lafitte recently.  It was his first run of the season and any kind of improvement for the run has got to put him close. Going appears to be similar, good to soft.

Another 7 runner race with no 3 place market. Cry
Report impossible123 July 8, 2018 3:33 PM BST
Gustav Klimt behind Without Parole might not be good enough form for this, I think.

Only joking stew.Ive read plenty of your threads where you have picked a long priced winner.I backed the winner but I like you thought the trip might be too short.I also backed hey gaman and the german yak.The winner ran a cracker last time from an horrible draw .Think the german horse set a crazy pace.

Thanks pp, not sure where the John Rickman comments fit into my posts though!Grin

John rickman used to give everything  a positive. If I had done a preview  I would have only give a negative about olmedo.Apart from him I thought any of the other  6 could win.For me then it come down to prices.
