They want to impose a minimum margin on punters!! https://www.racingpost.com/news/latest/racing-discusses-minimum-betting-margin-to-protect-levy/336898
Forgive my ignorance as I haven't read the article but I wouldn't mind standard minimum bookmaker margins if there were standard minimum accepted betting liabilities otherwise they can fcuk off.

Do you mean with the likes of BOG offers skewing percentages and massive price fluctuations making it virtually impossible to create a straightforward book?

I read the bit about the fixed odds punter adapting to pool betting these lot at the top are miles off the reality of betting on racing in this country.

I mean that if they imposed minimum margins on individual firms it would still be possible in theory to have a book close to 100% across the "industry".

Bookmakers don't want to take bets on racing, the only way most punters (including myself) can make any reasonable money is through betting on multis, someone like me only uses totepools for Exactas and Trifectas as bookmakers don't want fc/tc bets either.I believe placepotting/jackpotting is for the big pool players at big meetings. We can all bet in a tote style way on Exchanges with more options of markets at racetime whilst knowing what our returns will be instead of backing what you thought was a 10/1 winner which has returned 6's or so.

Gotcha mouse just reading your posts now,I'm not sure if their current M.O is to create an overall profit for the industry and each gets their slice filtered down? As for taking a view and competition between books who knows.

I never understood why betfair don't offer a version of BSP with 5% commission already factored in for Joe Punter who finds the exchanges too complicated. To him that would be just the same as backing on the tote but they could publicise by how far the dividends beat the tote/britbet/ripoffbet etc.

I've said the same for years the trouble racing has is too much take out from shareholders who are only ineterested in making their bit and all these bad decisions made lower down the foodchain are a direct result. I'm sure everyone in racing would benefit by bookmakers taking bets again even if it's to accommodate arbers given the amount of early shorteners that are wallopped day in day out and an industry run pool system with as you mention profits back to racing.

The off course books can all disappear up their own arses as far as I'm concerned. The BSP shows that you can have effectively an exchange and a tote run from the same pool, and that's all you need. It's just that BF marketed it slightly wrong, should have had commission already factored in so as not to confuse the unsophisticated punters.

A problem which ties in with what the BHA are doing is the link of their Guvnor Rust to many of these betting and gaming companies,I have it somewhere in the back of my mind that he had a decent share portfolio also though can't put my finger on where I read it.

They do. They just don't advertise it.
Place your bets as singles using BSP Multiples (I know that sounds an oxymoron, but YKWIM) and you get BSP minus 5% with no commission.

I'm probably being naive here but does this mean those who pay PC can still bet into the BFSP @ 5%? I'm not on PC and only ever done BFSP multis doubles and up and can stake virtually anything to potentially take out the max I was wondering if the same applies to all which it should imo.

@denzil - those who pay PC can still play BSP multis, but the 5% deduction from the price doesn't count as "commission" for the purpose of calculating PC. As I understand it.
