Really enjoyed that thanks for posting.

Stayinin,

Thank you.

Most of it based on his book (read it) but a good watch. I like Harry, maybe not to everyones taste and some crazy bets, but you can't knock the guy.
Report DenzilPenberthy June 25, 2018 7:10 PM BST
He's lost more banks than the North Sea coast hard to have too much respect as a racing punter no matter how much he's had or blown, seems like a gambler rather than a knowledge based punter where Horse Racing is concerned.
Report Andrew in Sweden June 25, 2018 7:22 PM BST
Agreed Denzil and as i stated he's had some crazy bets, but he's had a good life and achieved/done far more in his years than most on here.

He's still a gambler, not a great one either, but always will be and i wish him well.

Wonder if he's paid back Tony Bloom the millions he owes him.
Report DenzilPenberthy June 25, 2018 7:34 PM BST
Tony probably uses his losing accounts to get on Mischief
Report Andrew in Sweden June 25, 2018 7:35 PM BST
domino,

I doubt Tony cares
Report domino14 June 25, 2018 7:48 PM BST
Oh Tony did care, he didn't do a runner to Aus for nothing. He proper stitched Tony up and left him to settle a lot of debt.
Report Arklearkle June 25, 2018 7:48 PM BST
If my memory serves me right the last thread on poor Harry deveoped into an argument around how many times he had gone bust.
Report sparrow June 25, 2018 7:55 PM BST
As Andrew has said, he has achieved far more than most of us on here. A great shame that his Coventry Greyhound stadium failed to work out but full marks for trying.

domino,

I can't comment on that simply because i don't know, but considering TB is a billionaire, a couple of million is a tip in a restaurant to him.

With that sort of financial clout he could pay for HF to 'be lost in the outback' if he wanted, but i doubt he even cares.
Report stayinin June 25, 2018 8:56 PM BST
the interesting part of the video was what he said about odd on shots you cant make money baking them anymore horses that used to be  1/2 are now 1/5 people who used to use the same systems 5 years using the same system would lose today, is horse racing the hardest sport to beat the horse iyo?
Report Andrew in Sweden June 25, 2018 9:19 PM BST
Stayinin,

HF makes a valid point with respect to odds-on and i agree with him, but there's a positive side as well. Many odds-on shouldn't even be the price these days and can be layed. This wasn't possible back in the day.

A couple more from this year, similar but worth a watch, first particularly ...

hi andrew

everybody i know who tired laying on here pre race have done there brains the problem with laying on here is higher odds the margins are so tight and commission kills a lot of people off for new customers a believe commission should be 2% give them a chance to learn the ropes and make a profit 5% is too high for a beginner with no edge ie fast picture track playing etc.

Andrew, you seem to miss the point regarding Bloom and Findlay. Whilst a few million may or may not be a drop in the ocean to Tony Bloom, if the suggestion Domino made is correct it does paint Findlay in a very bad light. In fact quite ironic that in your first post you say 'you can't knock the guy'.

Does he still smoke marooanna for his arthuritis?
Report Dr Crippen June 26, 2018 11:38 AM BST
Where did he get his money from to start with. Has he got a regular source of income?

Most professional gamblers turn out to be rich men losing a fortune. They usually end up writing a book on the back of their reputation as a big punter.
Report DIFERENT GRAVY 12 June 26, 2018 11:52 AM BST
He had at least 20k on Uruguay @66s and 80s, presume he laid off plenty and won overall.
Report Dr Crippen June 26, 2018 12:09 PM BST
Many large betting punters spread their bets over several selections.

Others do perms on stuff like jackpots. Which is one way of starting up if they get lucky.

I can't see much sense in betting hard earned money gambling after accumulating a fortune through other means.
I certainly wouldn't want advice from a person like that.

Harry would be good telly in the world cup. Instead of paying ex players who can barely string sentences together, get big Harry on. It would be great telly.
