it's all about prices. 4/7 for the dewhurst 14-1 earlier today in a weaker race.

if you are I'm not trying to suggest anything. certainly not any skullduggery.

merely that as a punter it's worth waiting for the better prices and pointless backing odds on (cracksman a case in point)

even the better horses can often drift out to bigger prices later in their career. you just have to be patient, they are not all frankel. take advantage of the fact that punters have short memories and are unforgiving if a horse has one or two bad runs.

8/1 but earlier trading at 16 here; a furlong shorter and against much inferior opposition than he'd encountered the last couple of races. If only this race had been the 1st instead of last...I might also have noticed his participation.

no Group 1 sprints for 3yos April/May...i'm guessing Stoutey was aware of the possibility he needed to go back in trip without the help of Betfair forumites but i could be wrong

might be bred for 8f but pulled like a train Dewhurst and not much better start of this season

who pulled his nut off in the Dewhurst and Greenham rendering the breeding redundant as far as stretching out to a mile is concerned.

I would have run him in the Commonwealth Cup instead of Group 3 race.

Now we know why he did n't run in the Commonwealth Cup.

I don't reckon he'll run in the July Cup either - Sussex Stakes imho

Reckon it was more to do with Equilateral's presence that meant that EE didn't run here, with hindsight I reckon EE would have won.

Would love to see Expert Eye in the July Cup.

fair point - I just think the mile division looks weak, his performance round the bend at Goodwood last year was mightily impressive and he was doing all his best work in the last furlong in the Jersey.

He was still keen, over a mile round the bend going that much slower if he lights up he won't get home, the horse has bundles of toe to burn, let him show it I say, I wouldn't be surprised though if Stoute try's again to stretch him out.

It seems he'll be supplemented for the Sussex now, why? He finished way down the field in the 2000G over 8f, and beat Society Power (???) in the Jersey over 7f. I think Without Parole or Gustav Klimt or Lightning Spear will have the measure of him in the Sussex.

It's worth bearing in mind that, when interviewed after the Jersey, Stoute stated they were n't particularly confident going into the race and he had n't exactly been working the house down (or words to that effect). The fact that they're prepared to supplement him suggests they're happy with him now.

That said, the Jersey is n't looking particularly strong - only one place from 11 subsequent runs for the horses he beat - although how easily he won did seem to get a bit overlooked in the aftermath of the race.
