I was in the Bataash camp at York last season when he lost any chance pre race and wud be again were he to get down to the start wivout incident but it cud be a big "if" - likely to be a warm day wiv massive crowd in attendance which cud help contribute to this fella boiling over again which wud be a shame cos theres no doubt he has a serious engine in him

I've no view either way , but was watching The Verdict t'other day and Angus and Willo were going about LA being the value at the prices on the figures and crucuially, cuz she's the one with the previous at Ascot!

LA value? She's consistently underperformed lately plus she does not get the wfa allowance this year. Tbf she'd be the one I'd dismiss as a betting proposition. I might do a match bet between Battaash and LA on raceday.

Bataash is a good sprinter, but a big lay for me tomorrow.
Edgy disposition and occasion could get to him Best form on soft going Only raced at Ascot once finishing way down the field Trainer is out of form Rated 1 lb ahead of Lady Aurelia but has to concede 3 lb
Lady Aurelia broke the Ascot 5f record in this race last year Lady Aurelia loves Ascot and good/firm going Velazquez back on board
I think Mabs Cross is a good EW outsider, but i will be backing LA and laying Battaash.
Good luck

As in Politics a year in horse racing is a long time, and the performances of Lady Aurelia and Battaash could not have been more different ie the former in decline, the latter in ascendancy,...obviously in my humble opinion.
Personally, two unjustified Gp 1 favourites tomorrow on given form ie Without Parole and Lady Aurelia.

Just a quick one about Wes...he’s gotten a bit cute.
What’s with the runner in the Hunt Cup?
That said...Undrafted in the Wokingham might be a good bit of placing.

Just got matched at evens on Blue Point in the Blue Point vs Kachy AvB market - I only put the bet up at that price as a bookmark for later, wasn't planning to get matched. Not complaining mind.

Don't think Crowley done a lot wrong, but a race with so many front runners who like to go flat out, was only really one result. Agree Acey Deucy the winner is a class sprinter, but when one horse goes absolutely flat out the whole way and the other looked flat, the task is made significantly easier.

Thinking if there was a way a horse could intentionally miss the break from stalls in order to ensure a lead. See it a lot speedballs getting caught. Reminds me of cycle racing finishes.

I bet Battaash will not be making the pace ever again so early on - he's been outstayed in this stiff 5f by a 6f horse - the pace was the deciding factor, I firmly believe.

dont think battaash backers are too disappointed, the horse placed 2nd and was a great price to place, looked a 2 horse race on paper, so there was no way you could be confident just backing it for the win

Correct, and with good reason. I posted this yesterday
I think Mabs Cross is a good EW outsider, but i will be backing LA and laying Battaash.
I backed Mabs Cross win/place and layed Battaash, but I didn't play Lady Aurelia in the end.
Here is my daily p/l.

I left the bets on before i went to the office, so I don't know what the best price was for Mabs. I was matched @ 4.9 for the place.
My best bet was the handicap RA 5.00, i had the winner @ 13.0
My worst was laying Calyx RA 3.05 (loss £155.0)

Yes a good day considering i started with a 3 figure loss.
Cracksman is one of those that looks very good on paper, but is he a back at the price. A week ago you could get evens, now he's 1.59. Trip and course obviously not a problem, and the opposition is not the best, so it's only good/firm ground that's the ponderable. I would certainly be a backer than a layer, but whether i will go in tomorrow is another story. Good luck if you lay it.

Gosden gave a very revealing interview after he wobbled home at Epsom saying he loves to grab the ground at Ascot and we wud see a much different beast - that will do for me but little damage done if you take him on..... that said they said the same about Frankel and look what happened there
The horse you layed/thought about laying cud be the 2nd coming in those colours as pointed out by Frankie - admittedly he doesnt know as much as some ex race riders but i remember they said the same about Frankel when Corals offered the bet of a lifetime when they gave you 12/1 him remaining unbeaten during his 3yr old career.
That horse is special for sure

The two things I considered were 10f on good to firm ground and the last race at Epsom where the main dangers ran no sort of race yet still leaving the outsider to run him close. I do worry about him liking Ascot and probably not Epsom but we shall see.

I guess you're referring to Calyx, correct, that was my first race loss. Looked impressive LTO but i thought today would be a bit too soon. It was heavily backed close to race time, but i had already layed it anyway. Won really well and a long way in front of those on the stands side. Could be a Guineas horse for sure, but i wouldn't rule out Sergio Prokofiev either.

Correct Andrew - Dancing Brave stands proudly on one the walls in my home thanks to a young handicapped lad that drew him and "Pat the ****" - god rest his soul- from Bishop Auckland so ive always had an affection for him and those colours - Frankel was a freak that only a few knew about prior to his debut when he beat Nathaniel
Calyx is the 2nd coming and the other "wonderhorse" will be looked after for ever more
*disclaimer - i know fook all

I certainly knew about Frankel after the Royal Lodge, i thought he was a world beater then, so maybe we share the honour of being his number 1 fan. I certainly posted often enough about him on here in 2010/2012. The best i've seen, and i've seen some good ones.

after his debut i expressed my views that he was a great and advised the 12/1 bet elsewhere after maybe his 2nd or 3rd race elsewhere - he only had to win 3-4 races max at silly odds as a 3yr old so 12/1 was massive

I took my daughter to Royal Ascot for the QA in 2012, her first time on a race course. On the train i told her she would see something special (apart from Liz and co).
I didn't expect 11L

That and the ride Greville gave Dancing are my abiding memories of great racing moments
needless to say wiv Pat the **** on board roles were reversed when they were 6/4 the field the pair - me mate was a big Sharastani fan

Was very disappointed with Cracksman - seems to be getting a harder horse to ride with every race - that was nowhere near a vintage renewal so has to go down as deeply disappointing as there didnt appear to be any excuses for him and it wasnt as if winner had 1st run on him so cudnt use that as an excuse - all in all a big let down on the day
