This is why the bookies are infact rich can u give me one single reason who this horse can actually win today ?  Not being smart just wandering what your view

Look at its first race mart, thrown a few

Winners.!

Mart - it can actually win the race because it is running in it. The game isn't about finding winners at any price, it is about finding the right or wrong prices. If your tissue prices longterm provide profit then you would be laying it at one price but also be backing it at another price, your staking plan would then come into effect depending on the perceived value within that price. Tunnel vision of finding the winner is a poor way to be punting for longterm profit. I have backed Jurz at average price of 3.82 because it seems overpriced around that price to me (subjective). If it was around 2.8 I would be laying it.

So true Magic. ive been in this game full time for around 30  years and took me a good while to realise that price is just as important as selection.
Sounds mad because if your selection doesnt win it doesnt matter what price it is but it doesnt work like that thats hindsight and aftertime of which Mart is a University professor.

For non believers as a paper excercise stick a pin in every race
1)lay for £10 lowest price pre race Betfair
2)back for £10 highest price pre race Betfair

Both options either back or lay will return a profit

Mart you have delusions of grandeur the way you post!

Geoff - plenty will still say if it hasn't won it was a rubbish bet, over a 12 month period you will know if you have been placing good or bad bets (if you record all your bets). Jurz could get well beat and it will be "I told you it couldn't win" - but everything has a price, you just have to work out what the true price is.

Let speedy Gonzales show you the way ! Ave not got time to put up charts or data ! Am in holiday mode Tongue Out   Over on the jumps 7.00 Ross Canardier stands alone on the clock , horse beat an Ordinary bunch but the clock was brimming that day Excited
if it runs to tvst standard it will be very hard to beat imo , causes arch posted a lowly 4 th best in this race and looked a confident lay bet to me , too 3 in this canardier 5 len ahead of eamon high and another 2 len to Jerez !

What about the ground and distance, or does that not count...surely a good figure on the clock over 2m cant be used in a 20f race.

Jurz should have won that race, and finished easily in front of the 'Speed' horse who also seemed to have the run of the race. Only watched it once but if you were a layer of Jurz it seemed you got away with that one.

I assume Andrew in the title is moi, but i've been at the office all day and can't access BF there.

Rather than reading through all Marts posts, could somneone please inform me of those (using the time) that may appear to be intellectually challenging and informative Wink

I would like to add a proviso to the above though. Any post that contains the words 'speed', 'ratings' or 'Pegasus' please ignore Wink

From the ones that I could decipher there is nothing of any consequence (surprising I know), the title was intended to get others to have a look as the OP is a little perturbed by the amount of interest shown in yours and stridings threads of late, seeing as he is going away he is doing everything he can to assure he doesn't become a forgotten man in his absence.

A prime example of why speed figures (even good ones) don't really work in NH racing - it ain't how fast you gallop that counts, it's how fast you jump.
