although the runner up was hmp 2 out,the winner was dossing last half fur..they have to be sure the 2nd would have won..very hard to deduce that happened.

It really is that simple, unless the stewards are nearly certain the interference costs the 2nd the race the result will stand.

An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approximately 1 ½ furlongs out
when the winner, ALTRA VITA, ridden by Luke Morris, interfered with BRAEMAR, placed second, ridden
by Pat Dobbs. The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved ALTRA VITA’s placing as
although the winning distance was only ½ length, the interference occurred far enough away from the
finish that there was enough time for BRAEMAR to regain its momentum. In addition, the interference
suffered was only minimal, with Dobbs only to having to ease momentarily.
Morris was cautioned for
careless riding as he had allowed ALTRA VITA to drift left towards the rail when not sufficiently clear.

But not enough to lose it half a length?

Not the stewards finest moment in explaining their decision.

you could tell by morris's atr interview before he even went in the stewards room that he was going to bully his way to keeping the race. They should televise them so we can see if the other jock is doing enough to try and get the race

Brilliant. Braemar goes down as an 'unlucky loser' and we get another chance to lay it at odds on next time.
