The Dad has said that he has had to take loans out to cover the debt but to me that just doesn't seem right. Surely the firm/firms who the kid lost the money to has to take some responsibility I would have thought.
The question that begs to be answered is what if the teeneager actually WON £80 grand, would he have got paid?  I think not personally.

Me too Mac, it just doesn't sound right to me at all either.

"He was staking as much as £3,000 at a time and placing hundreds of bets a week."

Mmmm, itchy chin time methinks.

The dad must be pig thick firstly for not doing his Company's bank reconciliations and secondly for not changing his card after the little runt was caught the first time. Fools and money are easily parted.
Having said all that the bookmakers should be hit with a huge fine for allowing it to go on as I can't believe they weren't informed after the first £20k loss was discovered.

You were all late starters, I was made to learn the odds and calculate returns from the age of 6 by my "parents", didn't have to use them very often though...!

Double standards you can lose as much as you can no limit, but if you start winning you get limited how can that be right.

Didn’t I read a while back that some banks were banning crypto currency purchases on credit cards because people were maxing out their credit cards and they were worried they would be stuck with the debts.

Would be nice if they were more proactive in other areas of gambling imo.

The lad has a bright future imo. the passion is there just needs a bit of advice on money management and staking, how else did we learn? If you haven't bet your last and more and walked home from the races you've still got a bit lo learn.
