Clear winner there at Market Rasen, so could easily let us see who will get second. Instead we watch the winner coast of the line and then see who is second when betting is suspended. Betting continued with most people betting blind.
They could EASILY go split screen or sth showing the places. Incompetence really.
They need to embrace drones and have decent finishing line pictures, also the paddock should be covered by fixed cam positions and these should be employed all the time and studio can voice over, no need to see the ugly mugs that spout tripe.
Often it's selected runners only with very limited pics of runners coming onto track /going to start, it's easily fixed but they have no will to do it, dodgy contracts and not to mention picture delays and intentionally not showing winner in paddock, putting punters onto non triers, they all feeding from same bookmaker supplied trough. Innit.

Just show all the runners in paddock, but they manage regularly to cut to studio for mince chat and then no time to show all runners, often picking out what turns out to be total nons.

Not just racing, trips to the studio instead of live action are commonplace.
Sky golf cuts from the action to show some studio **** talking about players swings and drawing lines on freeze frames. Total bollox that no one wants to see

Anyone that thinks the broadcasters are trying to help you find a winner are trolling /work in the trade /idiot.
Prob all three. Ex betting shop "managers" worst for blindly defending industry.
Some of emm think they should be able to sign a passport photo innit. All that time behind the glass turned emm into monkeys.

You would think the betting industry would want to see pictures of an exciting race for places broadcast instead of a cakewalk for a winner, so as to encourage ew and place betting. But even they don't seem to have a say here, or simply do not care because they do not know their own customers.
No, the reason that the TV pictures always zoom in on the winning horse is because the pictures are supplied by an independent company. And they, no matter what they are asked, do not want to change. Why is unclear but my information comes from two separate TV producers who are involved in sports broadcasting.
But it goes further than this. When giving out results, it also drives me mad that we are only ever given the conventional places on the results frame. This is despite the extended places available so frequently nowadays.
However, the argument against this is that 'almost everyone can access the full results on the internet nowadays, so why go to the extra expense of changing the status quo. I get that but then again, it is yet another example of how many of the older generation who are not computer and smart phone savvy are ignored - and there are plenty of them who bet on racing.
All of this, though, is also a terrible example of how an industry that is in serious, serious trouble will not pull its head out of its backsides and makes sensible CHANGES, instead preferring to waste millions on low grade promotional films and bothering itself about a 'week long Derby festival!
The latter makes me laugh out loud. The Epsom Derby meeting used to be four days long but then the fiddling about began and now, 30+ years later, we are back to a possible 'week long festival'. Four days at Epsom for the Derby meeting never worked because the Thursday and Friday (Coronation Cup aside) was often low grade and poorly attended. A week long run at it will not improve things. What might, is Epsom not asking for over £150 entrance fee to the QE stand (or whatever it is called) on Oaks days!!! I am fortunate enough to be able to afford that kind of money but I would not dreaming of indulging Jockey Club racecourse's greedy ways...
Rant over...

I agree with your point re. accessing results. Isn't it about time SSR as it's now called, had a results service on their Sky text service? No new TVs have old style teletext, so unless you have an old TV it's a job getting them.

As for a 7-day Epsom festival I'd gamble putting the Derby back on a Wednesday, it's dying a death in it's current Saturday guise. I imagine they would be thinking a bit like the Melbourne Cup festival, day on day off etc throughout the week.
