Report elise May 4, 2018 9:02 PM BST
i'm going to guess that because it's a clerks objection, from memory i can't ever recall one not being dq'd once called so in effect they will say you were betting on something that was a done deal

just a guess tho

this there reply

In the interests of fairness and integrity,  all bets placed during the enquiry will be voided. The following rule applies in this case:
''Betfair may, in its sole and absolute discretion, decide to suspend betting on a market at any time (even if such suspension is earlier than anticipated by the Exchange Rules). In the interests of maintaining integrity and fairness in the markets, Betfair may also void certain bets in a market or void a whole market in its entirety.''
Report THE-SEER May 4, 2018 9:26 PM BST
integrity - they allow laying fallers
Report adge May 4, 2018 9:28 PM BST
exactly the same as laying a horse that had fallen imo
Report wondersobright May 4, 2018 9:50 PM BST
no it isn't

you cannot lose laying horses who have fallen (since remounting was not allowed)

laying horses who appear to have lost equipment does not mean a guaranteed winner

if you search for a horse called plus jamais and watch a run at ayr on 31/10/15

there's bits of tack flying off all the way up the straight, looks a certain DQ

but the jockey weighed in within the allowable parameters, he carried the saddle in his hand jumping the last (with the weight cloth inside) Wink
Report kjansch May 4, 2018 10:05 PM BST
fixed weight cloths that cant lose weight

anyone can see falling tack but very few falling weights
Report Willie Shafter. May 4, 2018 10:30 PM BST
this is my take on this...

i like everyone seen what looked like the weight cloth fall off before 2 out...

i bet the 2nd after the last...now 20 secs after the race the betting re-opened..i said to the lads in the box,why has it re-opened when the clerk of the scales hasnt objected? i then bet the 2nd and laid the 3rd...then even when there is an objection by the clerk of the scales bf dont re-open the market.

the simple facts are..bf should never have re-opened the market.
Report pablo-fanque May 4, 2018 10:48 PM BST
betfair need to clarify this situation for further instances
Report Willie Shafter. May 4, 2018 11:01 PM BST
they never open a stewards for a weight discretion or a wrong course scenario.
Report jmdc May 4, 2018 11:10 PM BST
Well they did tonight!
Report pablo-fanque May 4, 2018 11:11 PM BST
ohh right , so it was a mistake on betfairs behalf because they thought it was a stewards enquiry ?

was a stewards enquiry called or did the clerk of the scales object , or , would a stewards enquiry be called if the COTS objects ?
Report jmdc May 4, 2018 11:13 PM BST
All there was on RUK was Stewards Enquiry at the foot of the screen, then they fcked off to The Betting Lab.
Report pablo-fanque May 4, 2018 11:16 PM BST
if the COTS objects , does this trigger a stewards enquiry ?

i can't remember how it works now Crazy
Report jmdc May 4, 2018 11:20 PM BST
Yes, that's what usually happens, but tonight they just sounded the klaxon and announced Stewards Enquiry. Then RUK left Cheltenham and returned to Potato Head's Betting Lab.
Report the dealer May 4, 2018 11:23 PM BST
The Clerk of the Scales objected to the winner BATTLE DUST (IRE), ridden by Mr Alex Edwards and trained by Philip Rowley, on the grounds of the rider weighing in at 11 stone 1 lb having weighed out at 11 stone 13 lbs. BATTLE DUST (IRE) was disqualified and the placings were revised as follows: First, EXCITABLE ISLAND (IRE), Second, MON PARRAIN (FR), third, AL CO (FR) and fourth, RICHMOND (FR). The rider and the Clerk of the Scales were interviewed. The Stewards were satisfied that Mr Edwards weighed in light as he had lost his weight cloth at the top of the hill on the final circuit.
Report Willie Shafter. May 4, 2018 11:55 PM BST
very strnge scenario if the klaxon sounded for a stewards inquiry before this was triggered by an objection by the clerk of the scales.
Report brassneck May 5, 2018 12:05 AM BST
on the odd occasion a jockey and a trainer can fall out and the jockey fails to weigh in,the clerk informs the stewards who then act,the clerk must object if a jockey fails to weigh in for the stewards to act.i know this is not the same situation but it might help.

Report brassneck May 5, 2018 12:19 AM BST
the clerk of the scales makes objections if a jockey fails to weigh in,it happens a lot (usually for minor places)then the stewards disqualify the horse.
jockeys and trainers can argue like everyone else, and feck each other off usually trainer telling jockey he did not ride to instructions, and the jockey will say feck off and he will not bother weighing in after the race.

a result can not be offical until after the weigh in,so there was no weigh in, even though the judge announced the result,it was pending the weigh in,
and any jockey worth his salt is not going to weigh in if he lost some on the way round the tract,so i guess he pretended he forgot and hoped he could pick up a couple of lb lying about on the floor.Grin

It's worth noting for some, that when you weight out, you weigh out without, hat, whip and number cloth. This is because the number cloths have recording stuff in them for timings and each one weights slightly different and therefore you don't weigh in with it either.

Now I once rode in a race where it was pouring with rain and I had light (7st 9lb). I didn't even have a weight cloth, just a chamois, a light foam pad, and my saddle. Now during this race my number cloth came off, basically because I was riding pretty much bare back (saddle weighed 110g) and luckily the foam pad was lodged in the girth. I finished 3rd and weighed in exactly the same as I weighed out. Now someone watching on tv, may have thought I lost part of my tack, but it's worth noting you don't weight in or out with your number cloth, so if you ever see a number cloth fly off don't presume a horse will weigh in light.

Given even an empty weight cloth would weigh 1-2lb if that comes off the horse is definitely getting disqualified.

there has to be an enquiry because the stewards have find out why a jockey fails to weigh in,are you alright Willie

a stewards was called straight away and market opened...the stewards should not have been called until the clerk of the scales discovered the weight indiscretion.

ok.ydc.
Report brassneck May 5, 2018 10:51 AM BST
when a jockey falls off his horse after he crosses the winning line ,gets injured and goes to hospital and fails to weigh in for that reason, the stewards accept his reason for failing to weigh in and allow connections to keep the race.hope this helps.
Report brassneck May 5, 2018 10:54 AM BST
that will be the next money making stroke, jockey dumps weight on way round the track, falls of horse and gets in ambulance,no weigh in but keeps the race.LaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaugh
Report brassneck May 5, 2018 11:09 AM BST
correct procedure i think is that the clerk of the scales objects to jockey for not weighing in,informs the clerk of the course, who summons the stewards to enquire into the reason for the failure of the jockey to weigh in correctly.i am not saying this happened but that is what is suppose to happen,if someone rings the clerk of the course i am sure he will provide you with a statement
