I also took a close look at Mont Royal this morning, as I had it note-booked after that Bev win. Ultimately, I decided the draw was too unfavourable for me to back it today.

Unfortunately nothing again from Mont Royal, passed a few late on but nothing to get excited about. Either he has just gone at the game or they're aiming for a 0 to 60 at Beverley ![]() Running P/L: +17.67 |

Somehwere Secret, 1pt EW @ 16-1, 5.10 Haydock
Somewhere Secret left the impression he had returned in good form when making his reappearance over 6f at Thirsk late last month, looking like he had something to offer but not getting much luck in the run from over two furlongs out. He may not be the most straightforward but it seemed he was responding well to the first time blinkers and they are reapplied today. He's back on the same mark he was a good third off over couse and distance last September, and when winning at Doncaster later that month. Both those runs were with juice in the ground so yesterday's rain is a plus, and provided his high draw doesn't prove to be a disadvantage, hopefully he can at least challenge for a place. Raphael, 1pt EW @ 12-1, 5.55 Curragh Fitness has to be taken on trust for Raphael as he hasn't been seen since last August, and with an official rating of 73, there will be easier opportunities than this down the line, but he's of interest on his run at the Curragh last August in a nursery over 7f. That day he finished behind both Medal Of Honour and Bond Street who reoppose here, but after travelling well he didn't get the clearest of runs before going on well at the finish, and he left the impression he had gone handicapping off a fair mark. The step up in trip to a mile looks a plus, and he seemed to handle quick ground at Leopardstown last season (when 3l behind Medal Of Honour off level weights, receives 13lb today), while it's encouraging he remains in the Sheikh Hamdan ownership despite his relatively low rating, so it wouldn't surprise if there's better to come at some point even if today's run is needed. |

By:
Crap. Nothing from Somewhere Secret. They changed the tactics on Raphael and made the running despite moving up in trip, and he was still in there pitching for a place inside the final furlong when having his momentum checked by a hanging horse and that was that. And would you Adam and Eve it, the winner was the one Raphael was better off with at the weights - Medal Of Honour, but he was the one who got the waiting ride this time.
The bottom line is 4 pts lost on the day. Running P/L: +13.67 |

Sarrocchi, 1pt EW @ 12-1, 3.00 Curragh
Sarrocchi had impressed when making a winning debut over 7f on yielding ground at Leopardstown at the end of last season, overcoming apparent greenness to make up plenty of ground in the straight and run on strongly to lead close home. She didn't offer much on her comback over the same course and distance in the 1000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown when perhaps the heavy ground was unsuitable, but what was eyectaching was that she was sent off joint favourite under Wayne Lordan when Aidan O'Brien also ran stablemates that had more obvious credentials on form under Ryan Moore and Seamie Heffernan. Sarrochi ran in the One Thousand Guineas when there was no market confidence behind her and she failed to land a blown, though it appeared she didn't handle the track too well. The straws to clutch at today are that she's dropped in class to Group 3 company, up in trip to 10f and a tongue strap is applied. Admodum, 1pt EW @ 16-1, 3.35 Curragh Admodum was in good form in the early part of last season on a decent surface, winning handicaps at Dundalk and Naas, and after a five month break he caught my eye at Dundalk not getting the clearest of runs up the straight and shaping better than the bare result. The three runs since have been disappointing, but 12f might have stretched him at Dundalk and the two runs this year have been on testing ground. He's on a mark 2lb below what he won off at Naas and interesting to see if a return to a sounder surface prompts a revival in form. Wexford Opera, 1pt EW @ 25-1, 4.45 Curragh Wexford Opera isn't getting any younger and he's been lightly raced in recent times, however, there were signs on his reappearance over 9f on heavy ground at Leopardstown under a 10lb claimer that he retains a chunk of his ability. He appeared to do far too much in the testing conditions, having pulled his way to the front after halfway and kicked clear in the straight, only to weaken out of it from the furlong marker as his exertions took their toll. He's 1lb out of the handicap today and may prefer a bit more juice in the ground, but is 4 lb below the mark he last won off and that opening run suggested he may have another win in him if running his race more efficiently. |

Gone cold again and the month's profit (what little there was) is fast evaporating.
I wondered if there was a temperament issue with Sarrocchi at Newmarket rather just not handling the track on quick ground, and again today she seemed to be carrying her head at an angle, but she did run on into 4th and maybe she's just a work in progress. AO'B was talking about the Ribblesdale for her, to by the RP, but she looked a long way of that standard today, though the way she stayed on maybe the longer trip will suit. As for the Bolger pair, possible excuse for one them and not a lot from the other. A bad day at the office with 6 points lost, and if results don't improve soon I may have to consider handing in my resignation. Running P/L: +7.67 |

George,
Considering the big prices you go after, I'm amazed at how easily you get disillusioned. Stop judging yourself on how it goes from week to week. The figures at the end of the season are what counts, not what happens daily or weekly. Chin up, keep going and ignore anyone on here you consider idiots. |
