Night Story in the 5:15 Lingfield. This beast has the form to win this race and I think it may go odds on at the off. Plus the trainer has an impressive 44% strike rake in the last 14 days while the pilot has a 33% strike rate in the same period of time.
I'm not going to pus$y foot about here as it's off into town to get as much 5/4 as I'm comfortable with. g/l to all getting involved in this race.
As for the rest of today's cards....pulverised with trick handicaps. Layers should have good fun imo..
WD mouse. I wasn't going to bother, but went for a place (2)........

Anyways, unbeknown to me Big D has been giving his good lady any money he's made following my selections and put it in a kitty for a holiday. In the past year he has won just under 4k.
85-95% of those bets were non AW racing. A lesson for all I would think given the criticism I give AW racing.

Believe it or not, if I troll say, 10 shops and I'm fairly sure My selection is going to go off FAV, that's what I put on my tickets as nine out of ten go under the radar due to the fact the staff can't call in with the name of a horse.
Hopefully break the losing run soon but not too long a losing run...

if it doesnt run does your money not go on a horse you have no intention of backing?
how do you get prices on them

He's not taking the price. It's impossible to do so.
It's also a complete waste of time going to the shops to bet like that. You're on at SP. A silly way of betting imo. Who wants to place a bet without knowing who/what you're backing?

Stewart, I can't see any benefit in writing FAV, what if you had done it today and MK had got beat, you would have been as sick as a Parrot. Additionaly, surely the cashier still has to ring a trader anyway if you're placing a few bob on, there is still an 'envisaged' take out ?

Andrew, I've done it many times. 90 quid on FAV doesn't get picked up. Whereas 150 on a 2/1 chance (named) may be phoned to a trader.
the dealer 05 Apr 18 16:10 Joined: 31 May 07 | Topic/replies: 16,562 | Blogger: the dealer's blog with all due respect stewarty, i find that astounding that you would bet like that.
The dealer, since I started trolling the city centre only once has the FAV been a non runner.
Some punters might think backing shorties is easy. Far from it but if I or anybody else can place 100 x £100 singles on even money shots you need 60 of them to win for it to be worthwhile.
Call it an edge if you want but although my past few bets have gone down the amount of times I have beaten or equalled the price must be about 65%. I should add I do back largish priced horses also.
If I can equal or better the price there is no commission involved.

everyone to their own but still find it astounding. i also find it odd that in nearly all the threads you start about going into town, you nearly always comeback saying you got the money on at an average price, never once mentioning any of this unnamed fav stuff.
anyway good luck with it

There's loads of flip-flopping FAVS, especially in the short runner fields that Stew likes to back in.
There will be many times when you don't even know which horse you're on once the race has started. There's also the joint fav scenario which would end up seeing you lose money.

spot on steve. Last two backed drifted like the proverbial on here. Don't get me wrong, I've had plenty winners that have drifted (usually when a.n. other#0 is getting backed but as for today for example when I'm on at 5/4 and real money is laying it at 3/1....well, you kind of know how things are going to pan out...

So let me get this straight, I've been following Stewy's named selection, when all the while I shudda been writing FAV on me betting slip?
OH FFS, that's me out!

The Dealer, Approx 50% of my punting is with BF. 30-35% with the 2% mob and only about 15% with the books. It's usually a walk into town when I fancy one at say evens and think it may go off odds on.
Expenses and value are everything to me....especially commission.

You speak of expenses and value being important to you but freely admit you do not keep records, surely one goes arm in arm with the other for anyone seriously trying to make the game pay, otherwise there is no way you can definitively know for sure where you stand.

willie boy, I have told you once before and this is the last time.
What is said between chavers and myself by PM, remains between the two of us. (not all, but mostly for betting purposes)

CL, I feel like I'm being interviewed by Piers Morgan on this thread. Let me put it this way. There is nothing I need that I can't afford.

That will sound like a deflection to most stewarty, I like many others on here have serious reservations about anyone who does not keep records to measure their performance, irrespective of how comfortable they may purport to be, most successful players are usually good housekeepers.

Thought I would keep my selections on here until things change... Managed to get a couple of bob on at 15/8 on Larry in the 3:10 Fontwell.
Has some decent form on this ground albeit a 4/11 shot last time out.
On the negative side it gives weight away all round plus Moore is no superstar when getting the leg up.
My instructions to Jamie would be simple....'Lead all the way and if you get caught then so be it'.
'If confused by these instructions quickly look back at some of Peter Scudamore's rides on DVD...'
G/L all for the day.

I wasn't aware of that two scenarios mouse. The last time I heard of Newsboy was back in the mid 80s when he used to tip in the Daily Record.
Being a toff myself I was more into Scotia, Peter O'Sullevan and Bendex in the Daily Express.

I may be wrong but wasn't the Mirror and Record in the same stable at one time? (pardon the pun) I know for a fact that at least one of them was in the same stable as The Sporing Life as it (they) had the same betting on their race cards as The Sporting Life.

Glad I'm on both results tbh. The Dealer, now you will know why it's sometimes wort the effort to troll. ie I got 15/8 a 6/4 chance.

As I said earlier it's only happened once to me. I'm usually well up to speed when it concerns the market. ie. if I fancied one in a 4 runner novice chase and my beast was 5/4 and the second FAV is 6/4 I always name it.

Poor racing, but in football Birmingham to beat Burton at 1.8 looks a good thing to me. Gary Monk has rejuvenated the team since he took over recently.

if backing short prices is your thing that's fair enough. but bowson fred 2.05 Kempton at bigger prices looks rock solid eachway imo. good luck everyone as always.
