cant pay, wont pay, SEND IN THE BAILIFFS

By:
Are you inferring adge the plan could be better. What is the plan if not allied with FRB ?
By:
it would appear that the plan is coming together perfectly , democrat.
it just would have been an idea to give details of the structure of necessary deductions BEFORE people signed up |
By:
Are you suggesting that rather than change personal bank details to those of the FRB as advised it should be the other way round ? An explanation of the blatant differences between the two options on offer might be most appreciated by the as yet undecided.
By:
confused ~ is trp £27 and rmg £20 ?
By:
the FRB deal was advertised as INITIALLY £27 per day for trp. from this latest correspondence it might suggest that the days of this amount may well be numbered.
the FRB have declared that the amount THEY are distributing for rmg contracts is £20 per day. those that have signed with the BRBA can rest assured that the full promised payments will be made for the full term of all contracts |
By:
Thanks for the explanation adge.
By:
If you sign up with the BRBA and there is litigation in the future, who pays for it.
Do you expect everyone who signed up with the FRB to stump up the cash?? |
By:
no , gulf1 because the FRB , plain and simple , do not have any cash.
they are not reducing the monies paid out to bookmakers to have any cash reserves. , it is purely to ensure and preserve their own high salaries and expense accounts |
By:
Regardless of this issue,it cannot be good for the bookmakers not to have a united front when negotiating with the racecourses.I just wish the associations would stop bickering amongst themselves and try and work together.
The courtyard was a regrettable saga but who knows whats next.If money isnt put away for litigation costs there will only be one winner and it wont be on course bookmakers. |
By:
fully agree with everything you say kevin.
the BRBA have within their budget funds for such eventualities but nothing on the courtyard scale. probably helped along by having four accountants as directors |
By:
Why do you think FRB won't honour the TRP payments adge? Do you have proof of that? As for the £2 the FRB are deducting from the RMG payments to fund "preserve their own high salaries and expense accounts" please tell me you are joking. Humour doesn't always come across on forums.
By:
I really don't think these constant attempts at undermining via forums are healthy for the industry.
By:
i believe you have answered your own question there , wasnot.
taking the level of salaries and expenses being the same as declared in last years accounts it would need a reduction of £5 + per attendance on the RMG payments. the only other outlet for funds is reducing TRP contract payments. of course , there is another possibility , they could reduce everyones payments next may or june for the overdue 2017 divident instead. |
By:
So that's a no to the proof then. Lots of "ifs" in your assumptions there adge. The undermining is helping nobody.
By:
Actually, that statement is incorrect. Its not helping bookmakers.
By:
there will be tears , i agree
on a better note for bookmakers i can add that BRBA directors have spent a day with both aintree and ascot regarding bookmaker arrangements for the grand national meeting and royal ascot to ensure both events run smoothly |
By:
Did you ( ie BRBA ) make a charge for such work adge ? If so will the 'charge' become public knowledge ? In other words the transparency that everybody wants will be in place.

round 1 ![]() |
By:
all directors of the BRBA work for the love of the game and give up their time for free . the chairman gets a single figure annual award and the treasurer has an expense account . other directors have only a small travel allowance to directors meetings.......from the FRB accounts of last year the salaries of 3 directors was £70,000 and they have a secretary on full wages too.
the BRBA have income from subsciptions , sale of till rolls , point to point lists and sales , investments and flat rental income and strive to break even each year the FRB have no other income other than from data |
By:
BRBA claim a travel allowance to directors' meetings? ARB Directors do it for free.
By:
as part of the FRB
By:
Too many representative bodies wassy.
By:
Totally agree demo but until the sniping stops and personalities stop getting in the way how will it change?
By:
It will have to change when the dwindling number of oncourse bookmakers reaches a level that makes all the various associations unviable. Commonsense says it ought to change before then.
By:
Intended keeping out of this, but if the 3 directors are actually getting 70k a year at the FRB between them it just confirms my suspicions, one of them isn't even a bookmaker ffs.
By:
The FRB directors don't draw 70k. They draw £44.2k between them, or just over £14k each. It's in the accounts and a matter of public record. That's £14k before tax. For the amount of work I know they put in that is a bargain.

Round 2 ![]() |
By:
yes , itk , i've allowed the point to get sidetracked which was how paying £20 and not £22 per attendance would work.
from the latest FRB accounts which are to sept 2016 only, which as said are public record. wages , directors fees for 4 people £74600 [ was £62300 the previous year ] travel allowances and meetings £13800 office expenses £8800 direct racing related costs £5200 [ whatever they are ] the total of these being £102400 which cannot be recouped from a mere £2 per attendance deduction. and even then i haven't even included solicitors or legal costs and accountancy fees which combined were £257800 compared to £281800 the previous year. it frightens me to think what they are for 2016/17...am i missing something here , wasnot ? |
By:
If nothing else you are missing your sleep adge !!
I am sure those that appreciate being enlightened in this way. |
By:
Direct racing related costs will be the contribution to gamble aware on behalf of members. The fixed costs are the fixed costs, nothing in there looks surprising for the costs of running an association annually. Without knowing what costings going forward are regarding professional fees (including Serve Legal) and how many members have signed up for the FRB to administer their data money, or how many days they do, anything else is speculation.
By:
Wonder whats happened to the Capitals King? surely he would have been adding his twopenneth on here? Banned?
By:
we can have a clearer discussion without his input , ribero1 as he tends to take over, and this has been a healthy discussion.
thanks for the explanation regarding direct racing costs , wasnot , that's true and i understand that figure now. i agree it is all speculation. i have played with attendances supplied by AGT based on the courses under the RMG banner and the £2 does come over as woefully short of what is spent. maybe i've had too much time on my hands , we will see in the future i'm sure. |
By:
anyway , time will tell , good luck everyone at cheltenham this week

By:
RIBERO,THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT SHOULD BE "BANNED" ARE THE CHELTENHAM COURTYARD MOB FROM BEING MEMBERS OFF ANY BOOKMAKERS ASSOCIATION,THE FACT THAT THE NORTHERN ALLOWS YOU TO STAY SAYS IT ALL,AS REGARDS THE DATA DEAL WHOEVER YOU SIGN WITH YOU ARE SCREWED,BUT I WOULD RATHER GIVE MY DATA RIGHTS MONEY TO THE ISLAMIC STATE THAN TO THE FRB
By:
some very bad news about to hit for those that signed up for turf tv contracts with the FRB
as all good politicians would say bad news best revealed when most are at their busiest...ie royal ascot week |
By:
as i said three months ago it made no financial sense to reduce RMG payouts to bookmakers by just £2 from £22 to £20 as from the FRB accounts this is nowhere near enough to support their lifestyle but if the FRB reduced the TURF TV payments to bookmakers from £21 to £15 per day it all begins to make sense

Your post is somewhat worrying adge annd reading between the lines should be of great concern to those affected. I note however your deliberate use of the word 'if' and before the anticipated furore ( i.e once Royal Ascot is concluded ) I must ask are you reporting facts or simply scare mongering ? If it is the former surely a 'voting with feet' process will follow. Other points of view on this matter will make interesting reading and might even provide a 'more positive spin' - I hope so for all concerned.
