taken from the Racing Post website
Middleton, 66, permed Ascot winners Jenkins, Drumcliff, Acting Lass and a non-runner in a £200 each-way bet at the weekend, with the winnings set to roll on to his own Holly Bush Henry.
The trainer said: “Mark [Lowther, co-owner] has a box at Ascot and we were there socially on Saturday. I had a £100 each-way yankee and also had the same four horses with Holly Bush Henry in a £200 each-way accumulator. I've not worked it out, but it's over £50,000."

How did he get to include a runner on monday afternoon two days earlier? How did he know what price or how many runners as no 48 hour decs for NH racing?cant believe he wrote it on a slip and e/wLaughdrumcliff and holly bush henry both less than 8 runner races while acting lass never bigger than 7/4.Another bookies story to 'prove' they lay bets
Come on Phil lets see a picture of the betting slip.Couldn't of been done online or on phone as reasons stated for mondays winner

he also said if it was up to him he would have pulled hollybush out and only ran him because the owner came in a chopper ,never mentioned the bet, also said he thought his in the last would win but didn't include it in the bet, should leave the drink alone while blabbing on tv,bit of aftertiming romancing going on , imo

Why is this story hard to believe? Anyone can back a horse three or four days in advance but obviously not take a price. Many pros back each-way even at short prices.

the four ascot horses, well we know with evans/laddies that bookies will bend over backwards for trainers even in this case where not their horses...the more difficult to understand is the 200 e/w acca with the ascot four and HBH but if the trainer said the horse was deffo going to run then i'm sure they would have laid him SP - but 200 e/w acca on five relatively short priced ones suggests that he's had a few losing days in the past because for the rest of us, do that once and you won't get a farthing on again

we know that,iv'e done it myself but impossible to do online/phone.try getting a bet on thursdays aw cards at sp online,u can't even though we can see the declared runners so hows he place a bet on a NH race 48 hours in advance even at sp?like i said lets see the bet receipt

Thanks nuboy it confirms what I've been saying for years that despite their priviliged positions they can bet what they want and we can bet f all, please mention this to Phil I'm definitely not knocking him as I've won a few bob on his horses over the years.I'm sure there'd be an outcry if he logged into his account typed £100 EW in the yankee box and got MAX STAKE 0.00 or 0.07 like alot of us do,then had to go round 4 or 5 shops from different companies and the rest at Betfa ir sp multis to get on without adding in horses 2 days in advance.
It isn't envy that raised some doubts with posters it's the REALITY that 1000's of us have faced for years,we just want fairness unlike the bolox you and the racing world hear/read WE AREN'T ALLOWED TO BET WITH BOOKMAKERS FACT (unless we are deep pocketed clueless addicts).
Good Luck to yourself and Phil glad he mentioned his bets (bookmakers/RP liars won't have liked this) as it helps highlight the lies and inequality we face everyday.

So the trainer backs his horse to win £100k in a race at Worcester on a Monday afternoon, and the horse still goes off at 25/1 SP. Doesn't exactly sound as if the bookies are terrified of him does it?

Just look at oddschecker daily all the seas of blue can't exactly be genuine bets from the right people and the number of trainers/owners/connected yards having multiple winners  is just coincidental,it's hard to believe the markets are genuine when a few quid (literally) on betfair changes the price of a horse across the entire industry.
I remember the day Compton Park won at Pontefract on a Sunday was single figures in the morning drifted like a barge all day returned 20/1 Les Eyre said he couldn't believe the price the boys had "wheelbarrows on" all over the place and was made to look like a non trier despite the right people being on Happy

Denzil.

If I didnt know Phil personally I would have thought the same,Phil loves a bet , he has ridden many winners himself
in Point to points,Arabian races, and Quarter horses races and worked for a few well known trainers.

He is not hard up either.

They have to be able to bet to make the game pay seems straightforward enough to me as they have info that is beneficial to the bookmaking industry.
I moan because the likes of me are effectively betting in the dark and can't bet and it's then denied that this happens

bookie is happy to take a £50k risk laying someone that has inside information as to how the horse will run.  but won't lay a complete guesser £5 on the same horse in case he has it back on here to guarantee a 14p profit.

that is the issue ...

Nuboy  were you in his living room watching HBH when it won at the monster 25-1 ??.

Those that doubt he had the bet or bets then that's up to you, all I will say is those numbers were small bets for him, exitas and Golan have also been smashing the bookies up in recent months.
Holy was never gonna be a non runner, like to know where that come from, lump on were his words, keep up the great work Phil

that came from his own mouth on atr,we only ran because the owner had hired a helicopter to get us here, otherwise I,d have pulled him out, rather than pick one porkie pie from another easier to assume its all fantasy, note to your buddy you need a good memory to be a good liar

how much did he have on the drifting fav in the last that he thought would win although he didn't include it in his acca , out of his 170 grand winnings,

that Helicopter was booked the week before at least. Maybe  some haven't been watching him after some of his winners and losers, he has been interviewed ie before Holy,s last race he said he had backed it e/w and I think there was 7 runners at Kempton, it came 4th he lost 4 figures minimum, luckily he or anyone doesn't have to prove nothing to anybody, so if ya doubt it that's up to you all, each to their own, funny really

first of all Astrum was not fav all day , it was backed into favourite come post time and drifted late on, Astrum is a 100 rated exposed animal ,Hercules I call him a one paced plodder that normally gives his all but no great shakes, yes he fancied it to run well and I'm sure he backed it, told us it was a decent e/w double but for me never the bet, prices to short and field sizes etc, anyway that ran like a drain from the off, that horse normally likes to force the pace but started at the back, suppose to be off racing on the snow but I see it has new entries again, not for me that one
