Contrast with David England who blundered around on the best horse last time, and did the same again today only didn't get away with it. Talentless, utterly talentless.

Incredible recovery refused to fall. What a jockey he isReplay for anyone who missed it. The slow mo at the end of the video really shows his talent.http://www.attheraces.com/replays ( Clonmel 2:35 )
Yeah I'm sure there's 0.01% of punters still unaware of how good he is.
1.01 too that someone on here would have said he jumped off if he wasn't able to recover.

While there is no doubt that Jack is a good jockey and if he continues to progress he will become one of the very top jockeys this is a typical over reaction by some people, maybe due to the fact that he went on and won the race. While it was still a great effort and good horsemanship he was helped by one of his feet being in the stirrup which allowed him to cling on originally where others who lose both stirrups fall off. This allowed him to gain some leverage that other jockeys don't have the luxury of. He then did well to manoeuvre himself once his foot came out of the stirrup. The lead horse then came across him slowing the pace of his horse and it moved to the rail which kept the horse straighter and allowed him to manoeuvre easier. He then did well again to maintain his balance once the horse veered off the rail.
I've seen many better recoveries from amateurs in point to points where they have lost both stirrups, the horse is travelling at pace all the time they are trying to get back on, and they don't have a rail or other horses around them to help and keep the horse straight. All that you hear people say is "he was lucky to stay on" because the jockey isn't a big name. You don't judge how good a recovery is by how good you think the jockey may be. Still a good recovery, but not worthy of the exaggerated plaudits, although I'm sure it will win ride of the month/season as people will like that fact he nearly came off and won the race.

Monbeg Worldwide at 2/5 in the first beaten. Was it because the horse was not good enough or the jockey had a bad ride?
Jack Kennedy is an excellent jockey in my opinion.

Feltfair , what a moronic response, it’s no wonder that people don’t take you seriously. IvorB, that was possibly the best recovery I’ve ever seen in all my years watching racing, the fact that it was a worthwhile recovery makes it different from the thousands of recoveries that ultimately made no difference whatsoever. I’ve seen idiots laud some of these jockeys for marvelous recoveries , when they pulled their mounts up a furlong later . They may as well have fallen off when that is the case. The whole race sums up Kennedy and how superior he is to most of the rest. He’s away like a flash at the start and right down the inside , as opposed to Flanagan who missed the start and is 3 wide all the way. When he made that dreadful mistake, he didn’t just give up and try to take all day to get back in the race, he was back in front after jumping the very next fence, and when he got the lead , what a ride he gave it from there to the line.

I didn’t abuse you at all feltfair , far from it . All I did was point out the obvious and when someone constantly harps on about jockeys not mattering, well obviously people are going to give them some deserved stick.

Jimeen, you are entitled to your opinion, and probably most will agree with you. But saying that other jockeys have recovered and ultimately made no difference whatsoever isn't the most intelligent of statements. In most cases the horses lose a lot more ground than Robin Des Mana did, and it wasn't exactly a rag given that it was joint second favourite, 14/1 bar the top 3 and the favourite pulled up. Once he was back on the horse he was always in with a good chance of winning. It's not like he was laid for big money at 999/1 in running. If the horse was 16/1 and relatively unfancied that would be a different matter.

Feltfair, your opinion is completely baseless,in fact it’s not an opinion at all . What you are saying is just pure rubbish , pure and simple . IvorB, I’ve never seen a horse make an error like that and ultimately win, it was a world class effort by the rider, and much better than you portrayed. The way you are talking, there was guys doing better every Sunday at point to points. That was laughable to be honest.

It was a great recovery ok but no great surprise that the horse won once he got back on board.
The horse didn't even hit the fence.Kennedy would have been seriously embarrassed if he had been unseated. His(Kennedy's) mistake cost the horse no more than 4 or 5 lengths and no real momentum and he was back in front soon after.Great recovery and he redeemed himself for what could have been a very soft unseat.

I agree firstmevisor. I don't think Jimeen watches must racing if he says he has never seen a horse make such an error and win. Maybe he's quite young. Take a look at some of videos of horses actually falling and going on to win when jockeys could remount. May I suggest Kauto Star in the 2005 Weatherby's novice chase? If you are so amazed by today's error, take a look at Kauto falling two out, the jockey remounting and still winning. Makes today's error and win look like a walk in the park.

Movewiththetimes please read my post, I gave an example as he said he had never seen a horse make such a mistake and win (which i said in my post). If you are saying that Kennedy's horse making a minor mistake, losing little ground, then having most of the race to get back up and win is better than a horse actually falling two out, falling 20 lengths behind with one to jump, and having the presence of mind to remount, galvanise the horse and get it back in rhythm to make up the ground and fly the last then we differ in opinion. A horse falling is more of an error and going on to win than brushing a fence and nearly unshipping the jockey.
Please read a post correctly before commenting on it.
I won't post any more on this topic as I have made the points I wanted to make and don't want to keep posting on one topic. It was a good recovery from a good jockey, but nothing more.

We do have different opinions, Staying on the horse is the skill not falling off HTH, they don't cheer a rodeo rider who falls off after 5 seconds but go mad if they last 30 seconds. As for your example Kauto star was rated 35lbs higher than the winner that day and Kauto didn't fly the last he hit the last if he did fly the last it would of won.

This whole thread is a hoot with people locking horns and getting all steamed up about non-issues. JK did well-that's all we can say. He did what he tried to do because it was doable-if it was not possible to make the recovery then it is self-evident he couldn't have done it. A jockey's natural instinct is to stay aboard. The idea of trying to assess the comparative merits of blunder recoveries can be charitably described as a typical piece of forum whimsy.

I take on board your point but if that's your view on rides then why watch a race surely radio is all you need. You knew your fate when Sir Peter O'Sullivan said 'He's down '

Jockey did great or jockey didn't do as great as you think, for crying out loud the amount of people who think their own opinion is a cut above others amazes me, people taking humpage at others people's opinions is nothing short of pathetic.

Gordon63 07 Dec 17 16:58 some of the flat earth society on here believe the jockey doesn't make a difference.
I wouldn't have thought there were too many, if any at all, saying that on here.
What I do know from personal experience though is say ABC about jockeys and some idiots process it as if you have said XYZ instead.
